if youre watching a game at lavalle, you can see the very large
gray spots in the turf where the AE logo has been removed.

The southern members demanded it. Stony Brook obviously knew of
the plan and still joined. Hampton is in CAA because W&M wants
them. CAA approached UNCG and other SoCon schools and they said
flat no and increased their exit fee. So next best teams from
south are in Big South conference. NCAT is probably the best of
the pick from them. Big research university which is growing
rapidly. Probably will be R1 soon. Packed football fans. Poor
bball. Don’t be surprised the last one is from Big South too.
Probably Winthrop or High Point or Campbell. We are in this
knowingly, intentionally and I still prefer this to AE. I would
have preferred 12 teams: 6 north and 6 south. But it is what it
is. Again better than AE.

I think differently than you, IBO. Time will tell who's right. I
stick with my assessment from what is going on in pro and
college sports lately..If you think Coach Flores suing everybody
in the NFL for racism isn't radiating into all sports and teams,
schools, pro, coolege aren't running scared. Then I got a bridge
to sell you

guys- everyone is entitled to feel how they want and we welcome
discussion. what we dont want is to devolve into what other
forums look like. weve never had that here and it sets us
apart.

is this the missing piece we were waiting for? from the bball
forum:

> Stony Brook was ultimately put in a no-win situation. The CAA
refused to let Stony Brook delay the official announcement until
after spring sports. Had Stony Brook given the conference a full
year of notice in advance, they still would have been ineligible
like Boston U! So this is what they were left with.

the southern states. Moving past 12 teams is irresponsible for a
one-bid league. I also don’t like the Hampton add. So scrap NC
A&T and Hampton, find a better 12th would have been my ideal
plan.

I don’t think it has anything to do with being from southern
states but more likely virtue signaling by admitting two HBCUs.
I don’t see any athletic advantage to adding them.
[/quote]
Except that's outright bullshit when you consider that Howard is
academically the top HBCU and a good school period. Hampton is
also very good. I don't like the NC A&T add not because they're
an HBCU, but because they're not on the same level of Howard and
Hampton. Howard is the best addition for the CAA, and the CAA
should have waited out the collapse of the MEAC to add them
rather than just going for NC A&T right now. Unless UNCG and CoC
said they were leaving if another school in the Carolinas was
added I don't see what the impetus for adding NCA&T right now
was.

NCAT is a done deal.

Which means there will be a 14th. Lot of chatter on other boards
on the 14th: Fairfield, Howard, Campbell, High Point etc.

Howard is the only one on that list I want. The rest are of zero
interest to me. I have to start to question why the CAA is going
to large unless it's for slam dunk good additions.
Really hope Howard winds up being 14. Otherwise why expand this
much?

Looks like you wish is coming true. Strong rumor of Howard
joining CAA next year on Twitter and other forums. Will split
CAA in to two divisions solving travel issues.

Yep. Definitely looks like it. Selfishly I would have preferred
12 with Monmouth and NCA&T staying out, but 14 for football with
these teams will make for a competitive conference. Though I
don't see the value of going this big at the FCS level. With no
Conference championship game we're going to have multiple years
where we have two or even three way split championships.
Basketball becomes unwieldy too at 13? 14? 15 teams? I've lost
count.
I'll still take it over the AE though.

Anything is better than the AE. I can't wait enough for July
1st. GTFO of this league already.
