Another Geno Ford special. Wouldn't be surprised if Roberts
transfers out for his senior season with the way Geno's played
him. Another game we're -8 on the boards.

Exciting game down the stretch, but this game was lost on the
boards, and the 4-25 from 3. Geno should be fired for allowing
that. He changed offensive strategy to go to the rack too late
in the game; damage was done. And where was Roberts the 2nd
half? He’s our best creator offensively. Tykie had a strong
game, but not sure how that easy rebound slipped through his
hands on the buzzer. Know the kids are deflated, but Geno has
been of no help. Still wondering who blew the early release of
moving to CAA: was it the CAA or SBU administration? Re:Elijah,
unless there’s something we don’t know about the situation, what
an awful kid mistake; something he’ll regret for the rest of his
life.

That ending was the most comical sh*t ever. Geno’s four guard
lineup bit him in the ass in the most hilarious way possible.
Elijah quitting the first time could be chalked up to a mistake.
But to do it twice in a month is just inexcusable.
Geno will get exposed in the CAA even more than the America
East. With no love lost for either of them, I’d love for Elijah
to just put Geno on blast somehow.

The story is the same, bad defense up the middle. Geno keeps
going with the same starting lineup that cannot stop anyone.
Ford has no feel for a game, this team has lots of talent and it
has fallen apart. If this doesn't scream change then nothing
will.

Geno's clapping is tough to watch. It's after good play and bad
play. Maybe morale is down, but no, that shot was crap and does
not deserve even faux praise. It was crap.
We are ranked 339th in the country in assist percentage. If you
watch the games, this isn't remotely surprising. We unofficially
lead the country in stepback three attempts though so there's
that.
And I think Jenkins is just a fantastic talent. 2,000 career
points—awesome stuff. Love to watch the kid play. Unfortunately,
we can only fantasize about what his shooting percentage would
be if he didn't have to dribble/step back to get it every time.
How about give him a screen? Can we run him off screens? Or do
we just not do screens? Instead, time and time down the floor,
our guys have to break down the defense themselves. Absolutely
dumbfounding. It's like telling these great actors to go on
stage with no script. And I believe, as fans, we can't be upset
with the cast in this case. This is ON GENO.
Hearing the Elijah thing is just as we expected—checked out
mentally and now officially.
I'll say this ... we were due to take some steps backward. And
we did lose on two buzzer beaters. But I think we all agree that
this is no lull but rather something much deeper—Olaniyi out,
Shumperts out, Roberts not playing the final 13 minutes tonight,
the fairy dust wearing off on our shooters, getting destroyed on
the glass, body language lagging. It's all such a shame. House
of cards.

Playing two under 6 ft guards is a recipe for poor defense. My
guess would be roberts got benched for his horrible shot
selection which has been a theme all year. Two back to back
buzzer beater losses might be the nail in the coffin for this
team. Would love to see some more conventional lineups down the
stretch the small ball stuff is old can’t rebound can’t defend
can’t win.

I think jahlil is also a great talent would love to see some off
ball screens for him. The only screens set for him is usually a
policelli pick and pop which has gotten very predictable. The
lack of movement is entirely on Geno.

this is akin to the conversation the other day- we may have CAA
talent. but that's not the problem- it's efficiency. what good
is hitting a few threes if you dont rebound. or miss FTs. or
routinely let AE players run around you for bunnies. or foul a
jump shooter. or fail to close out. or make terrible decisions
with the ball.

the last two seasons the program bragged about how many three
point attempts we took, all the while not understanding that
it's what sunk us year after year. this year? silence.

finally someone said it.
i aint the coach- but cmon people- put sayles in the middle,
have habwe cut through the paint setting picks, and guards work
the ball until something opens. its not really innovative. is
it?

I think we're all in agreement that:
- We need to have some offensive structure (screens,
pick-and-rolls, drives to the hole with dishing, better ball
movement, etc.);
- We need some length to compete on the boards and protect the
rim. Policelli, Sayles, Christie have height but none have
jumping or rim protecting ability;
- We need a coach who coaches, and just doesn't let the kids
play and create for themselves. Will Heilbron have the guts to
pull the trigger on Geno prior to CAA entrance? Don't bet on
it;
- Although I wouldn't put this all on Geno, we have a problem
retaining quality players under this coach (Olaniyi, Garcia,
Foreman, Latimer, Otchere, Gueye, Shumpert(s)). How many of the
core 5 will still be here next year (Roberts, JRod, Greene,
Policelli, TSM)? Some of the blame on flight risk can be put on
the Wild West of NCAA transfering, but isn't it curious how
Vermont
seems to retain its nucleus, year after year?
