Quick turn for this one, and then we've got Lowell for the first
       time two days later.
It's been a weird year for UNH. They were one of three teams to
get a first-place vote in the AE preseason poll, joining us and
Vermont. Instead of contending, it's been really up and
down—really up and down. The Wildcats haven't won or lost
consecutive games since early December, and on the W-L-W-L
streak they have going that dates back to December 13, they're
due for a win at Island Federal.
And it's definitely in play. We really jumped on them in the
first half in Durham but had to withstand a second-half surge
that got it down to, I think, 4 points before we created some
distance again. A lot went right for us, including at the line
(19-20) and from three (11-27). Also, UNH got a very quiet
afternoon from Martinez, who finished with just six points, and
from their shooters, who went just 6-21 from downtown.
The comeback really started with Guadarrama, whose versatility
and width give us trouble. Sayles almost put up an incredible 14
trillion line (see Mark Titus) if not for the one shot attempt,
and I could see similarly limited contributions this time too.
After last year, I think we'd have to consider this year a
disappointment for Sayles—fewer minutes, much less production.
He's never been a guy who's cleaned up the glass but he averaged
a respectable five boards a game last year. This year, as easily
our biggest rotational piece, only about two. Yesterday, he had
10 points in 16 minutes, but then didn't play for the final
       nine. Very peculiar.
I thought Jenkins' and Roberts' usage was strange too. No
Jenkins from the five-minute mark to 41 seconds left? And no
Roberts for the final minute? And then no Elijah even on the
bench? Something is screwy with this team. Maybe it's noble for
Geno to not start those three, to ignite some kind of fire I
guess, but big picture and in the locker room, I wonder how that
was viewed. I can see yanking them and playing reserves for a
five-minute stretch—a la the Bulls in Game 6 of the '93 Finals
       (
  HTML https://www.thegazette.com/columns-blogs/five-minutes-20-years-ago-ex-hawkeye-hansen-has-unforgettable-career-finale/)—but<br
/>to not start them? I dunno. Something's just off.
I feel like we aren't going up and down as much, but part of
that is being able to win the battle on the glass. As I said in
the previous thread, we've been outrebounded by a wide margin in
five straight games, and here we face a really good rebounding
team—they're +4.7 per game for the season, and +3.4 during
conference play. We're -4.4 and -6.0 respectively. But we knew
it was going to be a problem.
I'm hoping there's still some juice left in these guys.

       Lets go Seawolves.
If you guys dream of SBU someday big time. This is the time that
we need to rally behind our team.
We don't give up on our program just because there isn't a
chance for NCAA participation. Stay strong and support our
program. A program is only as strong as its fans, donors, and TV
       supporters.
       LETS GO SEAWOLVES!!!

I’ve been proud of the crowd the last two home games. The
students were strong in number and did ride Falko for a bit,
which I can appreciate. And I appreciate the
pettiness/desperation of the “safety school” chant even if it’s
validity is questionable. Gotta get some kind of shot in when
you’re getting smoked. Just good to see some life.
There has to be a concerted effort on campus to get people to
go. The CAA announcement happened, we were gonna be on TV
against our biggest rival, and presto, attendance jumped. The
       Binghamton game was lively too.
Don’t care how it happens. Just glad that it is.
And hey, every good sports program has to have a good message
       board, so well done, men.

im trying to be positive but it's difficult when this team just
won't share the ball- and then, in the fleeting moments that
they do, they look like a top 20 team. a real headscratcher,
       but not unprecedented.
anyway ill be watching tonight go sb

Olaniyi removed from the roster. What a sour note to end his
career on. He finished with 1,197 career points.

I think it's gonna be hard to tell a team of transfers to play
team ball when the goal of playing as a team has been taken away
       from you by conference administrators.
As a coach, that kills me.
As a human, I get it.

There is nobody here. Including the students.
Guadarrama appears hobbled and is out. Not sure what happened in
that UMBC game. UNH has the shortest bench I may have ever seen.

Nothing like quitting a team 3 times. That’ll look great on his
resume when he’s looking to play pro in Czechoslovakia. Sounds
like the word has been fully disseminated on our ban. At least
       we had Scott King today!
