Not gonna lie—tough getting out of the rack for this. I feel
like I'm playing out the string too! But gotta suit up and
       finish the job.
We might have wondered whether NJIT had found something early on
when they got off to a 3-0 record, but's been all downhill
since, with seven straight losses plummeting them to the ninth
place in the AE, two games ahead of last-place Maine. And what's
crazy about this slide is these games haven't been close, with
only one coming by single digits.
I wonder if there's still a hangover from Wednesday. And if the
hangover will continue. I'd love to think that they'd relish the
opportunity and do it for the love of the game but the reality
is that some of these guys' days as an athlete—at least in the
United States—are numbered. And you think about taking an epic
bus trip to ORONO or BALTIMORE or LOWELL in the middle of
winter, and for what? With the conference tournament out there,
just about every team in America knew they'd have at least a
puncher's chance at a tournament berth. We don't even have that.
I really wonder what the guys' mindset is.
And I wonder if we start to see more of Kaine Roberts down the
stretch, just to get him time. And I also wonder ... we brought
in these recruits as America East caliber talent. But are they
CAA talent? I know, the difference is marginal. They're getting
two-star guys. We're getting two-star guys. But you can't tell
me there isn't a difference, that there isn't a food chain in
college basketball. There's at least a history of and a
discussion about being a multi-bid league. That has never been
the case in the AE. Unlike the past, can we sneak in and compete
       for a three-star guy? Or a high-level two-star? A Noah Best? A
Mouhamed Dioubate? (Edit: bad example. We have no shot at
Dioubate.) Or others who might not have jumped at the AE but
might be interested in this new frontier?
And for the guys we do have: Is Roberts a CAA guy? What about
Nahar and Muratori? Before you say you know for sure, realize
that half of you thought Alex Christie was going to come in and
dominate. But we have guys like him and Diallo with one year
left of eligibility, Pettway with two, Roberts with three. How's
this all shake out? It's very intriguing.
Side note: On fire with these odds guesses!
Let's go out and show some pride. It wouldn't be a terrific look
if the postseason ban just sunk us entirely. I really enjoy
watching this team play, even if it's flawed. Jenkins is one of
the most talented players we've ever had, Roberts is capable of
popping off every night, Greene all over the place and leading
the AE in boards, JRod's showcasing himself as an asset on both
ends of the floor (keep cutting! good things will happen!),
TSM's elevation and rainbow three is fantastic, Habwe's
tenacious ... it's just fun. A shame how it's unfolding. But
       fun.

Checkmate, thanks for playing out the string; you are a true
       fan!
Only shred of remaining hope here is that SBU starts a lawsuit
against the AE citing that Hartford got an extra year after
stating that they are leaving (even though they said 2025), and
somehow proving that the Hartford situation (financial, demoting
to D3) isn't covered in the AE bylaws of teams leaving the
conference. Then we prove that the Hartford situation is no
different than our leaving, and trying to somehow piggyback off
that. I'm not a lawyer, just pretend to be one in real life,
but the argument does seem weak on the surface. Maybe some
judge/court can create an injunction against the AE, which can
be dragged out until May. If this is viable, how much is SBU
willing to spend on legal fees to go through with that?

No doubt Roberts, Policelli, Greene, tsm are CAA talents.
Policelli and Roberts were on high level A-10 teams and Greene
and TSM are really solid players.

Policelli and Roberts were bench warmers in the A-10, although
on top teams at the time (Dayton and St. Bonnie). But, I agree,
I think those 4 can compete in the CAA. Throw JRod on that list
too, IMO. A decent foundation, but we're gonna have to add some
additional pieces to be competitive and some length.

my opinion but i think the issue with some of our players isnt
so much the talent (which they clearly have), but the
inefficiency. so while they might look great on paper, the
intangibles become apparent, particularly when we play great
       teams.

Yes i forgot Jrod as well. Bench warmers sure but to be
recruited to high level teams says something about the guys.

I won't let myself get fooled by height, but you've got to
wonder if Muratori and Nahar signed on with us because they knew
ahead of time that Stony Brook was going to move up to the CAA.

Not sure if anyone else watched, but things spinning out of
control. Shot 22% from 3, habwe must have missed 5 layups,
Jenkins a no show, and ARoberts with 4 offensive fouls. Oh yeah,
no sign of Olaniyi again, lol.

Inexcusable. I don’t care how meaningless the game is, you
cannot lose to Goddamn NJIT which got blown out 7 straight
       times.
Olaniyi can get lost, for all I care.
