You gotta be pleased with us winning three road games in a
10-day span, and now we're back home for a stretch that could
create some distance between us and the pack.
It's looking more and more like we're going to have to collapse
to not get the 2 seed. With the Vermont series behind us, we're
a game up in the loss column on Albany and two up on Binghamton.
Neither has faced UVM even once. We're also two up on UMBC,
which still has one more with UVM. I'll need to see more from
Hartford (just 2-2) to take the threat of them leapfrogging us
seriously. I know we've had some slip-ups at IFA, but I'd feel a
lot better hosting a potential conference semi than going on the
       road.
We were lucky to escape BU with a victory the last time, nearly
coughing up a nine-point lead with two minutes left, with
Bertram misfiring on a potential game-tying three at the buzzer.
Binghamton really had no answer for Roberts, and I think that's
been a common theme for our opposition this year. Roberts and
Jenkins are really tough marks and they've been very steady.
Roberts has hit double digits in seven straight games, and
Jenkins has fallen shy of hitting double figures only twice all
year. Part of that's their ability to knock down free throws, as
outlined in the UNH thread. They're 42 for 46 in conference play
and a big reason why we may post the best team FT% in our
       20-plus years in Division I.
Falko has had an unbelievable year so far, but we did a pretty
good job of keeping him in check in the first meeting. If he
keeps up this pace and keeps Bingo in the top half of the
       league, he's got a shot at first team All-AE, which I don't
think anyone expected from a role player coming over from
Gardner-Webb. He did have to deal with some foul trouble, and I
think Roberts will look to make him guard by taking him off the
       dribble again.
Bingo has the core four of Falko, McGriff, Bertram and Hinckson,
and the fifth guy has changed a bit. Heading into the year,
George Tinsley seemed like a no-brainer, 30-minutes-a-game guy
but he's in a reserve role. Hjalmarsson's kind of come and gone.
Same with Akuwovo. With Petcash back from injury, he seems like
he's back to being a key piece, playing 39 minutes in their
       narrow loss to UMBC.
Gotta give it up to Lavell Sanders. Binghamton hasn't won more
than five conference games since the 2009-10 season, and they
weren't even eligible for the conference tournament that season.
They have a TOUGH finish ahead (i.e. UVM twice, UNH twice, away
at SBU, Lowell and UMBC), making a .500 finish a challenge, but
the arrow's pointing up over there.

Bing always gives us trouble, and since the devastating
Quarterfinal defeat at home several years back, I never take
these guys lightly. Granted, new team, new coach, etc., but
like you stated they are playing the best they have in quite
awhile, and were a shot away of coming back and tying us last
       game.

It's so weird to think of Binghamton as anything but an
automatic pushover. I really wished their problems were
something systemic, and that getting rid of Tommy Dempsey
wouldn't be enough to change it. But it looks like that's all
they needed, and it sucks. When Sanders was hired, everyone was
expecting same old same old since he was just Dempsey's
assistant. Hopefully this is just a mirage for them. Binghamton
was supposed to suffer in basketball hell for eternity.

       Olaniyi in uniform.
Kind of deflated with the AE Tournament news. I wouldn’t mind a
CBI or CIT bid in spite of it.

Obviously, today a major distraction. Awful shot selection, and
turnovers galore. Olaniyi looks like a fish out of water, but
it’s been a team effort so far.
