I also agree with this 100000000%. This was a Pikiell issue, a
Boals issue and now a Geno Ford issue. I feel like we've always
gotten away with poor offensive scheming because our defense and
rebounding has been overwhelmingly great, year in and year out,
and we're able to out-grit teams (and rely on a star player to
make really tough shots). But we're always leaving points on the
table because we never ever get clean looks. Ever.
And it's not just Vermont. Watch college hoops. Many other teams
get consistently great looks because of ball movement, player
movement, timing, proper cuts, passing awareness and synergy
with each other. And you don't need great players for it.

Vermont having both a killer PG and C really sunk us. We
couldn't double Davis for too long, lest he kick it back out. As
poorly as Vermont shot it in the 1st half, you just knew they
were going to catch fire again in the 2nd half. I think they
made 6 threes in a row to begin in the 2nd half.
It was my first time back in the arena in a long time. The
students actually showed up! I was a bit worried before the game
started since they were a bit slow-arriving and I saw a lot of
people working out in the gym. The school must have promoted it
well. And they were giving out pamphlets to everyone about the
move to the CAA and how important it was for the school,
reinforcing it multiple times throughout the game too.
Geno said in the presser that Elijah is working his way back. So
he changed his mind? I'm assuming he practiced with the team
before the game since he was in the locker room. I don't think
he would have made that much of a difference tonight, tbh.

While I would take Coach P back in an instant I agree that going
back as far as I have followed the team, 2010-ish, on any given
game SB gets less good looks than its opponent, and tends to
take a lot more lower percentage shots. Against a talented and
well-coached team like Vermont, you better hope someone has a
career night and drops in 43 points if you wanna win.

I think when asked on the status of Olaniyi, the direct quote
was that "he is in the process of re-integrating himself with
the team, and I don't have a decisive answer for you". I
watched Olaniyi's body language last night, and he seemed
somewhat reserved, and I detected a coolness amongst some of the
players toward him during warm-ups. Can't say I blame them,
especially if it's true that he walked out on the team. If we
are allowed to play in the AE Tournament, he would be a nice 9th
man on the team, and could add value if there are injuries or
foul trouble during games, IMO.

If he returns, I don't see him being thrust into this role where
he's getting 30 minutes and 10 shots a game. The team has moved
on and hasn't really missed a beat.
That's a good diplomatic response from Geno.
