Recruiting should take a step up, though perhaps not a drastic
one at least not right away. CAA does sound better to recruits
than the AE though, so there is that.

It's all a pecking order. We will definitely get better
recruits. Those recruits that don't get picked by the top-12
conference will choose the CAA over the bottom-19. We will
probably won't see as many D-3 games scheduled anymore as we
have plenty of teams below the CAA that we can play OOC. So I
expect the D3 games to go away a few years from now
the AE league was the bottom of that pyramid. No way around that
       reality

Fat chance. I talked to SH about this years ago when SBU had
money. He told me to donate 60 million dollars so they can build
an arena on campus. That's too bad because SBU Hockey is
consistently in the top 10 in the club league year after year,
and they could easily compete in the NCAA D1 .

Division I Hockey is like the most expensive sport ever. lol.
You can fund like three different programs with what you fund
       hockey.
And unless you land in the Hockey East I wouldn't bother

SBU could have hockey down the line, but we're talking decades
away. The sport is gaining popularity and SBU is well poised to
       do well in it.
Any reason why the team theoretically couldn't just play home
games at Nassau Coliseum? The Islanders have moved out.

It is very rare (not unheard of, but rare) for a program to have
a great football team and a great hockey team. Need to have some
really solid athletic funding for that.
I speculated the same regarding Nassau Coliseum. We've done it
for larger teams (like Maryland a few years ago) in the past. I
imagine that at least one of the Hofstra games will be played
there. Now that NC has no tenant it may be easier to lock down
       for an athletic schedule.

LIU, of all schools, started both M and W hockey recently. They
play at one of the Islanders practice arenas iirc.
Knowing how awful SBU students can be, home games at Nassau
Coliseum would result in zero student attendance. None of this
current generation of SBU students would take a 45-min bus ride
       to watch Seawolves.

Don’t let them go home and it won’t be a problem to begin with.
Of course, SBU hasn’t yet truly succeeded at that task. If
       they’ve even tried.

       ;D
halftime report on the CAA move at the bball game- said this is
the first time SB has ever had all varsity teams in the same
conference. didnt know that; i guess we were largely
independent for much of our history, so the conference affiliate
       was rather minor.
