I'm a little late to this discussion. I believe lack of student
interest is a valid concern, but let's not lose sight of the
fact that SB blew Hofstra off the court last night and looked
terrific doing so. Best game of the year. I know that 46% from
three is not sustainable, but with that overall effort SB might
be a tough out in the AE after all. :)

Great point. If the team plays like they did against Hofstra the
rest of the season the arena will be selling out come February.

SBU basketball has evolved into a transfer/juco program. The
resurrection of the program took place with primarily 4-year
guys going back to the Dougher, Brenton, Joyner teams...rolling
into the Warney years. Not saying the support still shouldn't be
there, but not the same vibe today.

Certainly a fair point, and part of the problem. The Bball
program took quite the hit 2 years ago, when
Garcia/Olaniyi/Otchere/Foreman/Latimer all decided to pick up
and transfer. Of course, the full impact of that happening
turned out to be severely overshadowed by Covid, Tough to
retain talent as a mid-major in this new NCAA environment.

I maintain that we would have won the league and eventually
gotten ranked had we been able to keep that group together
       longer. What could have been....
