I realize your are referring to margin of victory, but SB's
worst home loss, IMHO, was the first round loss to Binghamton,
under "Already Packed My Bags" Boals. Boals, of course, is the
gift that keeps giving, because not only did he start SB's
current downward trend, he left us with Geno, who seems to be
intent on finishing the job.
[/quote]
This may be true but this is why schools have AD. SH should have
been privy enough to see this and not give Ford the Head coach
job, and certainly not give him a long term contract. The buck
falls on SH, not Boals. Boals was looking out for himself, as he
should..

Decided to look up Geno's contract information.
"After March 31, 2022, Stony Brook can enter negotiations to
extend Ford’s contract for up to three years."
Well, that's not happening.
"Stony Brook agrees to provide Ford with written notice by March
31, 2023 of its decision to extend or not to extend his
contract."
It will not be extended.
"If Ford leaves Stony Brook prior to March 31, 2024, he forfeits
the compensation."
LOL! I wish.

Here are some telling stats through our relatively small sample
set of 1st 7 games (there are 358 teams in D1):
- Our team FG% is 41.5% (285th in D1), whereas our opponents'
FG% against us is 48.08%;
Lots has to do with the offense we (don't) run, with lots of
out-of-rhythm, contested shots being hoisted. Also, have lots
of trouble finishing around the rim.
- Our team FT% is 66.3% (282nd in D1);
Sorry, inexcusable. This has been a bugaboo for many years.
Stay after practice and practice shooting FT's when you're
tired, for crying out loud.
- We average 32.6 Rebounds/game (309th in D1), whereas our
opponents average 39.8/game against us;
Of course, losing Olaniyi (sounds like for the balance/all of
the season) doesn't help in this category, but losing Mo was a
major loss. Sayles, Christie, Policelli - none have jumping,
quickness, and great box-out ability, IMO. Greene and maybe
TSM (leaper) are our only go-to rebounders. -6 on rebounds is a
Major problem for this team, and something we haven't
seen in years.

Do you care to make a little bet? I say Ford contract gets
extended. I’ll wager a $100 on that.

good analysis, oldie. greene and TSM should get more minutes.
if youre gonna bomb low % shots from NBA range, AND watch it
clank and rebound, you shouldnt get minutes. and tyler has
looked really good this year, i think.
cant understand why we dont stock our team with forwards...

$100 bucks Ford contract gets extended. Even with a losing
record and not making it into the AE playoffs.
Chairman of the Board can be the referee..

CoB, perplexing unless they anticipated Mo returning with added
rebounding/D with return of Olaniyi. With neither there, the
deficiency shows. Really like the court presence of Payton
Shumpert-good lineage and a kid who needs to be looked at more,
imo.

Some thoughts 7 games in one is the roster is flawed as we have
no size Policelli is not a 5 he doesn’t have the strength or
jumping ability to rebound against centers. Sayles im not sure
if he is hurt or what has given us nothing.Christie imo has been
playing better. I have to imagine they thought Mo would be a
part of this team and rightfully so. I still do not understand
his decision to leave for one of the worst power conference
basketball teams in the country. I hope Elijah returns so he can
cap his career on a good note. Now if Geno is out in a few years
who replaces him any names to look out for? This is an
attractive job i doubt they would go the internal promotion
route again off the current staff. Do we think we can pull an
assistant from a high caliber school would love to hear some
potential names.

I’d go for some name recognition. How about Warney (he’d do it
in a heartbeat, but has no experience coaching), but would be an
instant crowd favorite. How about Jim Calhoun as a rental for a
year or 2 (Pikiell connection). How about Chris Mullin? How
about luring Kenny Atkinson away from Golden State (he’s a LI
native)? Personally, I would love to see Joe Castiglie (very
successful sbu player and coach in the D3 era), who got royally
screwed and dismissed on a stupid technicality.
