With NY football over, I'm now gearing up for SBU hoops. Nice
schedule overall, except for the times!
Who's brainchild was it to schedule the weekday home games at
6:31 PM??? Coming off a Covid year with no fans, I can't help
but think that this will hurt attendance, especially since a
good portion of the fan base in prior years is from the outside
community. Maybe they're looking to cultivate the 4-7 year old
fan base???
I'm hoping that this was a cut/paste error across the schedule.
7:00 or 7:30 much more reasonable and fan friendly, IMO.
EDIT: After writing this, it came to mind that maybe ESPN is
driving this, but our AE opponents are generally scheduling
their games at 7 PM, so that theory is out.

I seriously doubt ESPN is driving anything as they're on Watch
or Plus so start times don't matter. This is likely the
brainchild of the stellar AD and his number 2. Makes no sense
if you want to get the most paying fans in the stands. I'm not
surprised though. They are lost.

Ha. I wouldn't be surprised "fans" complained games ended too
late during weeknights to take their kids to the game. Now they
moved it up 30 mins and its too early. that's why you just gotta
do you and not worry too much about making everyone happy.
Whoever wants to show up will show up. 30 mins doesn't make a
big difference. If you really have to go you can cut out 30 mins
early from work. No big deal.

Call me superstitious but I HATE being preseason #1.
Expectations are set, cockiness might ring in, who knows. Don't
want to peak in October.
Perhaps it's still PTSD from 2012-2015.

Lets hope this coach Ford isn't as much of a choke in big time
moments as Pikiell was. Get the team ready for the big games and
don't find ways to lose

I echo this sentiment. I'd rather be picked third or something
and surprise people than have the target on our back day one.
There are still huge doubts in Ford's ability to coach a team.
Weren't we calling for his head a few months ago?

Yes, we were. This is the reason why his team is filled with
transfers and no High School recruits. Once these transfers are
gone after this season, where does that leave Ford and the
program.. let's see Ford recruit kids out of HS before making
him AE coach of the year..

honestly... with the way transfer rules have changed and with
the ever growing amount of players signing up for immediate
transfers via the transfer portal... the old school way of
recruiting a player for 4 years stay is dead. You will see
players come and go. It's a free market now in the college ball
game. The times have changed
