Completely disagree on the selfishness and ego points. Our guys
needed someone to tell them what to do, put them in a position
to be successful, and hope that they can execute. Ford did not
provide that leadership today, nor did I see much of that all
season. We flowed like molasses on offense.

respect him. That's why everyone left last year. I gave up our
season tickets after the last playoff loss. I had no
expectations for yesterday's game, other than the final outcome.

Agreed. I feel the same as you. Ford slithered his way into
being the HC because of Boals. But he is no Boals. I will not
renew my season tickets for BB until Ford is gone. His track
record at Akron is enough to see, he is a hack and not a HC.
Stony Brook is and will continue to fall back into the dark
ages. So sad considering the advancements they made under the
former Athletic Director. Speaking of. SH needs to go also. All

Yes, I did read that today. I give SH an A on Cheerleading and
being a motivational speaker, but an F on his overall control of
SB athletics. His 5-year plan was essentially a bust, when he
first got here. Outside of helping to build the indoor workout
dome, what else has he done for this program????

To be fair, there’s a lot of culpability to go around. Yes, SH
has culpability by retaining Geno, rather than looking outside
the program for a coach. But, in fairness, he prob made his
decision in his attempt to keep Yeboah from leaving (that didn’t
work) and to retain the nucleus of returnees (that worked, but
only for a year). Clearly, Geno, and his inability to to deliver
a Championship last year and devise an offense that was suited
to the current team this year, has lots of culpability. Next,
Covid deserves some culpability for not allowing any form of
normalcy to this season occur, although one can argue that every
team had this problem equally. And finally, we have to give
culpability to the ncaa for creating a wild-west transferring
environment that’s only going to get worse, and clearly does a
disservice to mid-majors. Add it all up, and we are where we are
today.

Every team in the AE and the mid-majors are in the same boat. SB
failed to hold essentially its entire team. Name one other team
in the AE who lost 83% of their players to transfer!!
Like what everybody else in the forum is saying, Players dont
respect Ford. If you dont have the trust in your own players
then you dont have a team.

i think there's another reason we have trouble retaining talent
(even pre-pandemic), but i've beaten that to death in multiple
threads. yet, it's relevant here.

Vermont's HC John Becker has been a candidate for bigger jobs
over the years, including having his name mentioned as a
candidate at Penn State, turning down Duquesne in 2017, and most
recently Boston College. He turns them down every time, and
while he doesn't get the biggest and flashiest recruits, Becker
has built Vermont into an AE powerhouse. This year they started
terrible, really bad, and look at them now, auto-bye into the
Semis. The championship game will most likely end up putting
Vermont against UMBC, two teams with consistent success year in,
year out. With the passionate fanbase SBU has and a better arena
until Vermont completes construction, there's no reason
pre-covid fucking up the budget for Vermont to be better than
SBU every year since Pikiel left for Rutgers. Even Boals had his
shortcomings in AE play, but not like Geno has. The two teams
with the most significant athletics budgets, football, and men's
basketball, are led by shmucks, plain and simple. Chuck and Geno
need to go. But they won't. And the school will wallow in the
middle of the pack at best for the next few years or until
someone with actual sway decides enough is enough.

I was actively rooting for an epic collapse in the second half
hoping it would get Geno fired. The collapse came, and Geno is
still in town. So much for wishful thinking.

I've read them all Chair. But in the past, SB did not have a
transfer problem. AS a matter of fact, I don't recall SB losing
any transfers in all the years Pikiel was HC. I could be wrong
by one or two transfers in 10 years though.
