STONY BROOK
If Stony Brook sweeps Albany...
-They finish 5th if UNH wins, and NJIT loses at least once.
-They finish 6th if UNH wins and NJIT sweeps Binghamton OR if
Lowell wins and NJIT loses at least once.
-They finish 7th if Lowell wins and NJIT sweeps Binghamton.
If Stony Brook splits with Albany...
-They finish 7th if Binghamton sweeps NJIT.
-They finish 8th if NJIT wins at least once.
If Stony Brook is swept by Albany...
-They finish 8th.
So that's what we're looking at. It's worth noting that the
playoff format was finalized just days ago, with the 1 and 2
getting byes, and then the pods looking like so ...
3 hosts 6 and 7
4 hosts 5, 8 and 9
That the regular season was called off after this weekend limits
our upward mobility. With Hartford now done for the year, and
UNH with just one game remaining, it's impossible for us to move
up to host a pod. But A) I'm not sure how realistic a sweep of
UA would be anyway, and B) we haven't been great at home; just
1-5 in 2021. Meanwhile, Albany is very much in contention to
host a pod, so you can bet they have their sights on that.
The AE has been so all over the place this year, that I don't
really have any preference for what pod we end up in. Do you
care if it's in Durham or Hartford? Or if we face NJIT, Lowell
or UA? It really comes down to how well we play as much as
anything else.
You see all the names above, but there are two big ones missing
Cam Healy and Trey Hutcheson, who were probably the two most
promising players coming into this season, but have played a
reserve role for the most part. Healy's been battling injuries
all season, and he's taken a backseat with the influx of
incoming transfers (CJ Kelly Norfolk State; Taylor Duquesne;
Horton Pratt CC; Doles Drexel). After a solid freshman
season, Hutcheson has played only 13 minutes a night. Yet still,
these are proven assets all-conference assets in the case of
Healy who aren't even in their starting five.
Let's get physical, boys. Albany's eighth in the AE on the glass
at -4, ahead of only Maine (-4.1) and NJIT (-5.9). It's a far
cry from the bangers that we've seen in the capital in years
past. They're also curiously bad defending the three, with
opponents shooting almost 37 percent against them. But they've
got some nice wins to their credit in the abbreviated season
UVM, a convincing sweep of NJIT, a stomping of UNH so we'll
have our hands full.
I think it's important for us to get at least one, lest we enter
the conference tournament on a six-game slide, and 2-10 in our
last 12.

Money comes flooding in on Albany late. Line up to 5.5.
UA sounds fully healthy today. I just think theyre going to
have too much firepower and depth.

i tuned in. saw a three from top center, 5 feet (according to
the commentary) behind the arc, right in the beginning of the
shot clock. standing still, no attempt to react, just ball
watching.
so i shut it off.
wake me up when it's over.

Good defense all half. Some really questionable shots by
Policelli. Was gonna call for his benching until he hit that
shot at end of half.
