Aside from FT shooting, Policelli brings nothing to the table,
       imo.

At least last year you could count on a flurry of 3s from Elijah
or Makale to dig out of a 14-point hole quickly. No one with
that threat this year. Policelli's been cold more often than
       he's been hot.

Policelli is strictly a spot-up shooter in my opinion. And I
think he could be really good in that role someplace. But it
ain’t here with our lack of creativity on offense. Right now
he’s trying to create space for his shot off the dribble or
       taking 26 footers.
Edit: actually he’s not terrible on the block but not somewhere
       he’s going to live.

It was one of the New Hampshire games where he was able to get
14-ish points without the three working, just by driving in and
       midranges.

this game is a great example of how you can use your talent/size
advantage to take (and score) high % shots.

3-20 from 3. Stagnant offense. Not enough picks and cuts to
hoop. Monster game from Sayles; TSM hustled all game. No one
else showed up. Easily one of Geno’s worst coached games.

if im the coach (and i aint the coach), i give 35+ minutes to
sayles, habwe, and greene. id maybe move TSM to 2 and greene to
3 (or something like that). rodriguez is spelled by mack, move
gueye and LES into the rotation off the bench.
       gueye presents a coaching issue, i think; he's a 5 on defense
but a 3 on offense. so we have to adjust on each transition,
and tool the lineup to fill the gaps. id think this isnt easy
and will create mismatches we don't want.
       just my opinion, that's all.

Gueye is too valuable defensively to not give him 25+ minutes.
He’s such a presence down there that you can overlook any
offensive deficiencies. I still feel like he should be able to
drive, elevate and score over anybody in the AE, and am fine
with whatever result comes from him being aggressive. We saw him
catch at the FT line a few times yesterday and you know the
defender had to be thinking oh $***.
Rodriguez needs 15 shots a game. There are moments when he looks
like the best player on the floor and then spells where he
disappears. I love when he goes to the hoop because A) he’s a
pretty good finisher, B) the conference isn’t blessed with
tremendous shot blocking and NJIT in particular, and C) the
whole defense has to react which opens up the threes we DO want.
It HAS to start with JRod. He HAS to be aggressive when he’s on
the floor and put the defense on its heels. We need his offense.
I can’t remember the last three that Policelli took in rhythm.
Those are the ones we want and need. He’s 2 for his last 18 from
       deep.
Geno chalked it up to NJIT making shots and us not. “Hopefully
we can get a hot hand tomorrow. It’s not like there’s a big
adjustment for that. Hey, make an open shot, that’s the
adjustment, but we’ve got to do it."
I really disagree with this. It’s not that simple. No doubt we
missed some open shots, but we also had a guy have a career day.
In addition to not really having terrific offensive personnel,
we have had way too many legitimately bad looks the last three
games. The opposition is consistently getting better looks than
we are, and we are trying to answer their shots with too often
poor shot selection and a general lack of creativity and
movement. Lo and behold the other teams might have watched tape
and have a book on us. These aren’t misses; they’re bad looks
       and bad offense.
Never thought I’d say this but ... go to the rack, JMac!

Gueye is good when he slashes and finishes around the rim so
there could be a efficient player on offense. Same with
policelli hes forcing too much because the offense is stagnant
when he gets rhythm looks hes not too bad. But this team needs
more shooting to open things up.
