Track meet!
It's unavoidable. Bryant is just go, go, go, and it'll be
interesting to see if we can keep up.
To put the pace into perspective, Bryant games are averaging 148
shots. Ours are just over 120, and that's with the up-and-down
St. John's game. Bryant will not slow it down and will not milk
the shot clock. And they picked up some much-needed shooting in
the offseason, with Kiss coming over from Rutgers and Childs
coming off a fine juco season. They also have a dynamite
sophomore backcourt with Green and Pride – the former is a
handful when he's leading the break, and Pride has shown an
ability to finish around the rim. I have to think that Bryant's
the only team in the country with four guys averaging 15 or more
a night. I'm actually surprised to see we have four in double
figures and nearly a fifth with Gueye – better than we can say
in some seasons.
I'm really curious how we respond here. Bryant's press demands
ball security – something that we've struggled with as we aren't
blessed with a glut of ballhandlers. The press has yielded open
looks both at the rim and from deep, but be careful – if you
miss, you better get on the glass or get back. Because Bryant
will be off and running. They're not big though and the zone
they settle into leaves holes, so they can definitely be had on
the boards.
There's definitely an increased emphasis on our ballhandlers
here – JRod, Greene, TPP, Mac. I also think a lot will come down
to coaches in getting these guys ready. We weathered the storm
for a little while at St. John's, but this is that twofold,
albeit with lesser athletes.
I'm looking for Gueye to have a big scoring game as he's apt to
fill the lanes well on the break, and to be the guy who flashes
at midcourt to help break the press. If he can turn and go, he
could have opportunities at the rim. We really need him to stay
on the floor as we need to deter Bryant from driving any time
they want to.
If the O/U comes in at 153 like KenPom suggests, I'd be all over
the over. The lowest a Bryant game has gone so far is 169 when
they nearly picked off Syracuse. The other D-I games: 178, 183
and 184. In that order. Do I hear 190?

JRod with 3 quick TO’s has found a seat on the bench. Greene and
Mo playing inspired.

Zone helped a ton. As well as Mo using his length and
athleticism to get to the rim. Greene playing hard good half
after a poor start for the seawolves.

Nice to see them come back from a 10 point deficit, and find
themselves up at the half. JFR confuses me every game because he
wows with certain things and then messes up badly on other
things. Last game it was a complete dud, and now he's hit 2/3
from deep but the turnovers are not helping. And still, no TSM,
so he's clearly shot himself in the foot. Totaly in Geno's
doghouse.

Agreed that JFR is an enigma. Have to say I’m also impressed
once again with TPP minutes - he adds patience, poise, and
energy when he’s on the floor.

true on JFR. he'll get it together; it's so early.
elisias has 3 PFs early so that's really opened up the paint for
us. bryant turnovers let us back in.
also with the zone, at times, we are passing the ball. it's
creating shots. 7 assists already.
greene is playing down lower and it's working. habwe NEEDS more
minutes!!!

Bryant's offense, today at least, is running through two
players, Charles Pride & Chris Childs. Pride looks to be able to
handle almost everything thrown at him, except consistently
hitting the three-point shot.
