I heard about the Buffalo offer from someone there, both kinda
shocked he chose SBU. That makes two kickers in this year's
class.

SB still needs a real FBS QB. Project QB is a waste of time. But
this wont ever happen under our current leadership in this
program,.

Always thought our best bet was to nab a talented NY/NJ guy
buried on the depth chart FBS elsewhere who wants to come home.
Somebody like BC's Matt Valecce (I don't know if he is
eyeballing a transfer but he is completely buried on the depth
chart - next year will be even more so, we've got BC kids
before, he is pro style FWIW , and it looks like he's got three
years eligibility
remaining.....

From what I heard is that the staff loves Gutieri and they went
hard in on the CT QB so I believe before they bring in a
transfer they will see what they can do.

Spotted him at one of the games last year, amongst the sea of
recruits. They love his connection with TE(was a WR in HS) Cole
Bunicci. They were teammates and great, if not best, friends. I
remember Gutieri had already committed before SBU offered
Bunicci. Bunicci picked up a decent amount of FCS offers,
including LIU. Gutieri is undersized at 6-1, and that's them
being generous. But a fun tandem to watch. I'm sure Campi can
attest to that.

I was at their camp when he was there and SBU always has the
kids shorter then what they think they are and SBU measured him
that day at 6’2

I agree. I think our only shot getting that FBS talent is if he
came from Long Island and was buried under the depth chart as
you alluded to. His family can watch him play without traveling
far. He would also have to want something out of his education
at SB.
There are so many other schools good Transfer QB's can go to and
be an instant starter. SBU is limited in its degree. Unless it
is in STEM or Medical. The cards are stacked aginst this
institution at this time. Become a football first school, that
could all change but I doubt that will ever happen..

BC, at seasons end, had seven QB's on the roster. Two were
walk-ons, four were three-star or better recruits, and one was
no stars but still a scholly player. Sam Johnson III, who coming
out of HS held over 15 FBS offers including four from BIG TEN
teams, is currently in the portal. He entered roughly 10 days
ago. Two more 3-star QB's signed in the class of '21. One is a
PWO, no idea why. The kid held an offer from Ohio State but
walked to go to BC and guess since they'll have too many QB's on
scholarship, told him he needs to wait for one. Wouldn't be
surprised if another 1-2 QB's decide to transfer out in the
coming months.
