Jack Coan (Sayville, QB) just entered the transfer portal from
Wisconsin. Any chance...…? (I admit this is far-fetched)

It's a long shot, but I think it's a possibility. I wonder
(hope) if the extra spring season might be enticing. If you
transfer down, you can start playing games in the Spring and
essentially have 2 seasons left, right?

that's big and i kinda saw it coming. he is from sayville. i
think he looked hard at ND, and there was even a thought that he
may play lacrosse at one point. query whether he could really
do both at this level.
of course, we've now got a pile of QBs. but with the new
transfer rules...

Hatch is all bark, no bite. Hypes the school up like it's the
greatest place ever, but he never gets the recruits, its always
a position coach who gets them to come. spoke to a few last year
who did not come to SBU just because of Hatch.
As far as Coan, zero chance. He's looking for FBS starting
opportunities, as he should. A talented kid who will probably
apply for a waiver to be granted immediate eligibility.

[/quote]He entered the portal as a graduate student so there is
no need for a waiver.
Coan may have NFL dreams so doubtlessly he is looking for a
place where he can step right in and light it up.
They'll be quite a few senior QBs with an extra Covid year who
will look to do the same.

I completely forgot he's a senior, thanks for pointing that out.
Thought he was finishing fall semester of Junior year, not
Senior year. And because this year doesn't count, he's got two
more years of eligibility if need be. Some big FBS school is
going to get a great QB. Would be funny if he went to OSU and
linked up with another Long Island guy in P5, Jeremy Ruckert.

He has one year of eligibility remaining.
(This would have been his final year of eligibility. But, this
Covid year did not count against eligibility.)

An Iona guy. I like how while SBU doesn't get the best Iona and
Archbishop Stepinac guys, they get good guys who really do well
in college.
