Per 247: Tirek Murphy did not play during his debut season at
Purdue. But the four-star prospect in the 2020 class (No. 272
overall) is still hearing from a number of schools after
deciding to transfer. The New York native said he’s had Cal,
Northwestern, UMass, Buffalo and Stony Brook reach out along
with a couple of JUCO programs with Stony Brook offering. Murphy
told 247Sports he’d be happy to go anywhere and is prioritizing
       academics.
“I believe in my work ethic on and off the field,” Murphy said.
“My next stop is going to get everything out of me. I’m
currently training six days a week. Stony Brook is a school
that’s an hour from my house, so my family likes that. … Had a
3.51 GPA at Purdue, academics is very important.”

if you watch some video he does run out of the slot at times.

Wow! That would be a huge get for SB. Has stony Brook ever
       gotten a 4 star player?

That is semi correct. Tyrone Wheatley Jr. was a consensus 4-star
prospect out of HS, transferred to SBU after three years at
Michigan. In his lone season at Stony Brook, he played in 11
games with eight starts at TE, pulled down six receptions for 36
yards. Left after a year to play for his father at Morgan State,
don't believe he ever actually suited up for the Bears, though.
Bunch of former 3-star transfers over the years, most recently
Tyler Devera and Elias Reynolds. Brandon Benson and Keirston
Johnson the year prior. Benson quit the team after the '19
season. I was told it was a two-prong decision. He loves trading
Forex and has made a good amount of money from it, and Chuck
       crushed his love for football.

Yes, Tyrone Wheatley was a 4 star player. Apparently, there was
never any chemistry with him and the team, or coaches..

SBU added another preferred walk-on today when Kollin Melendez
of Sachem North committed OL/DL when entered HS he was 6'2 175
       now he's 6'5 1/2 270 and he has a huge upside.
