MAAC is mostly private schools and NJIT is public, but hey,
whatever, we're on the way out. All it would really mean is the
AE would be down to 7 schools and would have to do desperate
stuff like Inviting schools out of D2 and D3, or trying to give
schools like CCSU sweetheart deals to get them in. That's really
it. The AE will survive, although without us? It does take a
significant hit for sure.

I don’t know about Vermont tbh. I respect their success on
court. But there have been bunch of sexual allegations against
their bball players. I don’t know if true. But to me it feels
like they just put it under the rug, instead of serious
investigation. If it was Stony Brook/SUNY, heads will be
rolling…AD, bball HC etc would have been fired. I think Fiore
was let go for much less, and deservedly. Again may be the whole
Vermont story was fabricated by fake accusations. Who knows.

After years of wandering around, NJIT found a nice home. It’s a
high ranked research state school, fits in perfectly with rest
of AE. I highly doubt they will leave associating themselves
from other AE public institutions. MAAC wants to expand and
probably go for NEC city schools like Wagner and LIU.

My aspiration for Stony Brook has always been to see us become a
power 5 school. I know that sounds delusional given the current
state of our athletics department, but WE'RE A FLAGSHIP
UNIVERSITY OF THE 4th MOST POPULOUS STATE IN THE COUNTRY!!! West
Virginia has a public power 5 university and New York doesn't.
That's insane
In that vein we need to move to a better conference like the
CAA. I just wish we had more momentum heading into this
transition. Admittedly I'm pretty disappointed in the stat of
our athletic department. However I'm optimistic about the
future.
My hope is that we can leverage Govenor Hochul's recent
announcement + our move to the CAA as a statement that "Stony
Brook is The State University of New York" ( I know our friends
in Albany, Binghamton, Bufalo have something to say about that).
With that said, I don't want Albany and Binghamton to come with
us because I want Stony Brook to separate themselves and make a
statement that they're the flagship.

It's official. I'm fired up.

Watch the video too. They did a great job with it.
The question is ... does the AE move to ban us from the
postseason? If that happened, I would really feel for the
women's team.

They probably will just to be salty, but it will be worth it for
the better future down the line. That being said banning post
season play in these one bid conferences is stupid and shouldn't
be allowed. It's one thing if you're a multi-bid league and even
if you don't play in the post season make the NCAAT anyway, but
for leagues like the AE? I don't like it at all.

I was thinking that moving to the CAA might give us the chance
for legit mid-majors to come to our place, and there's some
validity to it but nothing crazy. For CAA teams this year, the
clear standout is Virginia traveling to James Madison (and
losing), and other notable teams (at least in name) that
traveled to CAA arenas were UMass, George Mason, La Salle, maybe
Tulane, etc. I'm thinking Fordham's in play for us home or away,
but teams like St. John's, Rutgers or Seton Hall still seems
unlikely to me.
