heilbron discusses the fall and spring in the latest howl
podcast.
from pres. mcinnis on costs:

i do like the transparency and action taken, but there is this
expected measure:

What's the total athletic budget?

not sure, guess in the $50m range maybe?
i know that the biggest out there are in the 200-225 range
(Texas, tOSU, etc.).

So, if you google ""stony brook athletics budget" (in quotes),
it returns our budget as approximately $ 30MM. I also found a
link that also said our budget was $ 25MM in 2015.
So, assuming the $ 30MM figure is accurate, a $ 2MM cut
represents a 6.67% cut, which isn't horrific given the current
NY state fiscal environment, and monies lost by SBU as a result
of Covid.
Assuming this is all true, I read this as a bullish statement on
the future of athletics under McGinnis. I could, of course, be
totally wrong here.
