Specifically, looks like some athletic facilities including IFCU
arena could be transformed into hospital space.
Over the last week, SBUH has seen a wide influx of people
inquiring about donating.
“It’s amazing how people can come together to support one
another in a time of crisis,” said Stony Brook University
Hospital CEO, Carol Gomes. “We’ve seen many posts from friends
and neighbors offering donations to help the staff at Stony
Brook University Hospital.”
While medical supplies are needed, many have reached out to give
their emotional support for medical personnel.
the dean of the med school sent this around:
When I last reached out to you, we had 22 patients who
either tested positive or were strongly suspected to have
COVID-19 at Stony Brook University Hospital. Today, that number
has increased to 227. And according to modeling studies, the
number of New Yorkers testing positive for the virus is doubling
every three days.
NCAA approves extra year of eligibility for spring athletes
HTML https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/28972856/ncaa-approves-extra-year-eligibility-spring-athletes
The NCAA's decision will extend the eligibility of all
spring-sport student-athletes -- not just seniors whose careers
would have ended after the cancellation of their seasons -- and
will allow schools to expand their rosters beyond current
scholarship limits to account for incoming recruits and seniors
who were expected to leave.
The NCAA will leave it up to each school to decide whether to
grant seniors in spring sports less or equal financial aid next
year, compared to what they received this year. The NCAA said in
a statement that the financial aid flexibility applies only to
student-athletes who would have exhausted their eligibility in
2019-20.
roads are being built right now around the area of LaValle
stadium and on the side of the Basketball Arena for the
temporary hospital. I have a strange feeling the Hospital will
be here for a while. What will that do for Fall sports,
Football... Something tells me there isn't going to be a
football season this year.
