Congrats to Olaniyi, Garcia, and Otchere. A little surprised
that Foreman didn't get 3rd team.
Some other surprises (to me):
- Noel making first team, ahead of Lutete;
- Fleming and Sutherlin making 3rd team;
- Shungu ONLY making Defensive player of year, and not making
any of the all-teams;

Perhaps a collection of motivations here to work in SBU's favor
for the only (hopefully) 3 games that count: Olaniyi proving he
might have been POY without his injury, Otch proving he
could/should be the top defensive player, Foreman proving he
belongs, TSM proving he could be *the* impact rookie moving
forward....
Congrats to all the winners.
PS...been a while since SBU didn't have an all-rookie member.

the AE doesnt go for this BS stat that our program touts- taking
so many attempts- as if that's relevant, or even a good thing.
in fact i'd argue it's a bad thing and the reason we sometimes
lose.

I have no idea. The man hit 100 threes in a season and they
don’t even give him Third Team???

I love that Noel got it over Lutete. He was so good against us.
I'll bet his defense gave him the slightest edge. No way you
could put two Lowell guys up there either.
Biggest snub for me is Gueye not getting any defensive
recognition. He had at least twice as many blocks as all but
like four players in the conference. He deserved to be up there,
even if it meant replacing Otchere.
Foreman's the only player in the top 12 in scoring not to make a
team. Eighth in scoring, third in three-point shooting. I can't
think of anyone else in the league who should feel like a bigger
snub for all-conference honors – and I don't necessarily believe
he was snubbed. I wonder if his antics worked against him.

Good point, with Gueye, I overlooked that. Checking stats this
morning, Mo outranks Big Jeff in the conference in DefRPG (5.1
to 3.6), BlocksPG (1.9 to 1.58), and StealPG (0.39 to 0.23). Mo
averages more MinPG (24.4 to 17.1), so on a per minute basis,
the #'s may be closer.
And the more I think about it, the more I think Foreman did get
screwed. To your point, out of the Top 15 scorers in the league
this year, only Foreman (#7) and Healy (#12) didn't show up on
any all-league teams. #16 (Tinsley) was Rookie of the Year.
Not sure the antics is what left him off, but surely his poor
2nd half of the season was enough of a factor to sway a lot of
the coaches. However, Foreman and Healy had by far, the lowest
FG% of these 15, at 36.4 and 37.5 respectively. But you have to
remember, 6 of those games were without Elijah. Granted a lot
of his shots became forced, but I think he was just trying to be
soak up some some of the offense that we lost due to the Olaniyi
injury. That may have cost him.

Whether or not someone did or didn't get screwed will be of
little consequence so long as we win the AE tournament ;D
