Attendance needs a culture change. It should be unacceptable for
grown adults to literally leave college and see their parents
every weekend, but for some reason, that type of behavior isn’t
shamed. For that reason alone we need to accept more upstaters
and less LIers, and there’s also a startling large number of
people who don’t give a damn about any type of college football.
People who’d rather go to the gym or study during game time.
Gimme a break. The moving parts of the school all need to
coordinate together to make college football the EMPHASIS of
Saturdays. But it needs to start at the top.

Hey, I like to see my kids on weekends :)
I've mentioned this before, but I'll say it again:
       - Offer students a free semester's tuition every home game
(that'll bring some out) - that is, one lucky student's ticket
       will be drawn for this;
       - Have someone from the Sports Admin team, heading to dorms an
hour before game time, knocking on doors, and advertising the
       game / free tuition thing.  Yes, brute force method;
       - Regular fireworks displays after games (not recommended for
       basketball :))

The brute force method used to be in existence, I think, during
the early 2010s, but I haven’t seen a trace of it in the current
       day

The biggest complaint I have is that you can drive through town
and have no idea that a game is going on that weekend or even
       that day.

Good point, Checkmate, I agree. A couple of sign on Nicholls
road and 25a might go a long way. Maybe some signs internally
on campus too. Very cheap solution.

edit- you can drive through campus on a weekend and not know
       it's a university.

I’m cautiously optimistic the new president will right the ship
The job requirement says that SBU needs someone who will Take us
to the next level. So hopefully that means a P5-level school. We
already have the academics of a P5, now we need... everything
else. And this new prez better fix that shit fast

While I appreciate the fact that athletics is part of the hiring
process, I'm not really sure how much of that responsibility
will actually fall on the president. In my opinion, the role of
the university president should be to make the University as
academically prestigious and well regarded as possible, and then
give the rubber stamp of approval when capital spends or
conference moves that would improve our athletic posture come
across his/her desk. We don't want somebody like JMU's president
who turned down the Sun Belt conference and says stuff about the
CAA being a good fit and things like that. Read their fan forum
if you don't believe some of the stuff I'm telling you about.
Some of their fanbase is pissed!!! Leave the actual managing of
the athletics to Heilbron. He's well on his way to getting SBU
to where it needs to be. He just has to get Coach P out.
On the subject of Heilbron though, he's a west coast guy at
heart, so if an AD position opens up out there in the Pac-12, be
       worried lol.

I strongly believe Stanley had everything to do with coach P's
new contract . He most likely promised P his job for the next 4
years. SH hands were tied with this one. Now that Stanley has
gone and SB will be getting a new President, SH has free reins
to hire and fire at will. I think coach P days are numbered at
SB. His contract will not be extended any further.
