Personally, I like Chef getting 5/10 mins, and getting more if
Jeff or Mo get in foul trouble. Mo had a poor game today and
Jeff seemed Like a non-factor tonight. Still, I think Geno
bailed too early on Mo tonight, imo.

Chef is definitely not like his brother, but you cant hold that
against anyone for not being a star because it is in your DNA
however, I feel as if Chef never did materialize from his first
year at SB. He just doesn't have that big basketball IQ. He does
play with a lot of grit, muscle, power through type guy. But his
decision making is not something to be desired. I hope in his
senior year a light bulb clicks on for him. He has the size and
strength to be a top BB in the AE. He just needs the BB IQ to
click in.

I like Chef, but as a 3rd option, behind Jeff/Mo. It's tough
coming into games and producing when you're only getting a few
minutes a night. That said, I think Chef's biggest issues are
his hands and his readiness to receive passes and be ready to go
to the hole. How on earth did he miss that layup last night?
Also, although Elijah could be faulted too on that late pass to
him around the arc, he has to come to that ball. Still, I think
he had 5 boards last night, hit that 3 (do we really want him
taking that shot though?) and he's a great 3rd Big option for
us. Seems like a real good kid, and he's accepted his bench
role well, considering he's a junior.

well ill pose this question- we are comparing the chef to mo,
but really, they don't play the same position. i think we are
comparing them because of height, no? mo plays about as much
inside as he does outside (maybe a touch more inside?), but
willing to hear what others see...
comparing chef to otch is better. and otch limits his own
minutes with foul trouble. the chef provides even more muscle
than otch.
the AE doesnt normally have bigs like we do. i think we can use
them to our advantage.
SB has one NCAA appearance: warney and mcgrew inside, warney
scored 43 points without taking a jump shot.

I think Chef has better post moves than Jeff. Jeff is still raw
offensively, IMO, and his real strength is being a rim protector
and rebounder on defense. Mo is just plain athletic, and a
jack-of-all-trades, IMO. None of these guys come close to
Warney though.
If you want to compare Chef and Jeff, I would feature Chef a lot
more in the low post; he's shown a few moves there this year.

Mind you one of these two played in the NBA and has his number
retired. Our current crop of post players is big and raw raw
raw. Defensively and on the glass, obviously Mo and Jeff are two
of the best we've ever had in terms of changing or blocking
shots. I just don't think you can force/expect these guys to be
major weapons in the post. It just isn't going to happen. The
strategy can't be "feed Jeff and Mo in the post." Dead serious:
Petras had a better array of offensive moves.

UMMMMMMMMMMM, NOOOO, Petras, for being 7'-0" couldn't jump to
save his life. I dont think I have ever seen Petras slam dunk.
His moves under the basket were like Gumby.

Hammer, you are too cruel! Petras came in as an unorthodox,
unskilled freshman, and was a serviceable player by his Senior
Year. Not an all-star, but was definitely a contributor.
Unless I'm mistaken, I believe he played professionally
somewhere after graduation.

while i agree, fact is, you probably should feed the bigs in the
paint (even if not a threat), if for no other reason than to
open the perimeter.
otherwise, you're predictable.
now tell me why- with all the talent and facilities- we've
secured one NCAA bid. but a lot of 25 win seasons.
pound inside, then stretch out. it works in tennis, football,
lacrosse, basketball, hockey, boxing, fencing, rugby. even
badminton.
