of players at the NFL level is a real bad mark on the program.
Miguel Maysonet was a stud in the early 2010s and he went
nowhere. Dominick Reyes was a defensive stalwart who is now best
known for getting screwed over by UFC judges against Jon Jones.
Does anyone outside of Stony Brook remember who Will Tye was?

Big embarrassment at that press conference.
I remember Will Tye scoring his first TD and the Mike Turico
saying "Stony Brook in the endzone" now at the time, even though
I've lived on LI for my entire life, had never heard of it, and
would not hear the name again for two years. Vic Ochi had a cup
of tea but has had issues off the field and won't ever make it
back. Timon was in New England this week, attempting to crack
his third NFL practice squad of the season, Chris Cooper quietly
was cut by the Broncos from their practice squad. Gavin Heslop
was elevated to the Seahawks active roster and dressed once, but
didn't play, kinda shocked he wasn't brought up for tonight's
game. But there's just no NFL history. I don't know how recruits
by in with no clear path to the league.

That press conference was not a good look. If Priore wants to
act like Belichick he should start winning actual titles first.
Surprised that this is my first time seeing something as
unprofessional as that. Sports media people can be annoying but
there is no real Stony Brook media to be fair, unless you count
Newsday’s half-ass job. No one is watching these Twitter stream
press conferences enough to notice Priore acting out like that,
so he can do it without consequence.

School had their first player drafted in 2014. Look at Wagner,
Cam Gill went undrafted and now he’s playing in Tampa Bay, and a
former player won the Super Bowl last year with the Chiefs. SBU
has no such luck or success with former players.

Because coach P and his coaching staff are JV at bast. They
SUCK. But yet SB continues to keep them on board. I've been
pounding my fist about this subject for 10 years now, and
nothing has changed, and it wont change until a new AD comes in
       and cleans house.

       > I think Heilbron is too smart of a man to fully approve of
Priore, but in that case, why extend him? His contract was
running out anyways. The extension was ill-timed considering
they ended up losing their final 2 games of the season anyway in
2018, then embarrassed themselves throughout the entirety of
       2019.
       >
       > We would have been done with Chuck by now had it not been for
that decision. Aside from not taking enough steps to move up to
FBS, extending Priore has been my biggest criticism of Heilbron
       so far.
       >
       > I do believe that if Jim Fiore was still the AD, Stony Brook
would already be FBS by now, but he was also an evil moron who
Stony Brook fired because he kept sexually harassing his own
athletes, so there is the trade-off to consider. Heilbron has
been much better on the social/political causes front but is not
       as aggressive as Fiore was.

The extension was rather odd, but at the time it was deemed okay
seeing how they were about to enter the FCS playoffs for the
second consecutive season. 2020 would be the year Chuck got
another 2-year extension, based off the last two. If he doesn't
get one, that should indicate what the future holds.
As for Shawn, the athletes love him. He knows all of their
names, seriously, walk into the arena during the day when
training is happening and see Shawn casually walk around and say
hi to all of them, ask how their major is going, which he knows
       offhand. Man knows his crowd.

Remember what I said earlier about how the state system works.
If you are part of the "good boys club" your job is secure for
life. Chucky is loved by SBU, Why? I have no idea. He is nasty.
He is not good with fans, he is not transparent, and he sucks as
a HC. Chucky is everything bad for football these days for D1.
Some verbal, behind close doors deal must have been made when SH
became AD that sealed the fate of Chucky with SB. I could see
him leaving only with retirement because of age. Welcome to the
State civil service way of doing things. UAlbany has some
problem at SB. Once you are locked in, you are golden and can't
       do wrong.

With the media, Chuck is an ****. Talking to Newsday or News12,
he kisses ass and answers whatever questions they ask, but in
postgame press conferences when someone from the Statesman asked
him questions, they were mocked. Skip to about 3:40 on this
press conference when asked why he settled for a FG when down by
a lot and needing a TD.

He is a scumbag. The perfect reply to that answer would have
been. I am a reporter and not an HC making 350,000 a year.
that's your job to make and make it correctly. I really dont
know why or how any athlete on this program would want to play
for him. I believe the excellent players who are on his team are
here because of the school academics, not for coach P. This guy
needs to step down and move back down to D3, where he belongs.

One last thing about this topic for the week, it's Friday, lol.
But Stony Brook football needs a coaching staff similar to
Clemson, Dabo Sweeney, and Brent Venables. What I mean by that
is not so much the caliber of high priced coaches, but more of
their character, and personalities, and how they connect with
the players. Dabo is loved by the media, coaches, and most of
all his players. Why is that? because he has faith in life and
believes in his players and coaches. He also has a multitude of
play-calling that was well thought out and practiced to
perfection. It also helps that Dabo's style of playing does not
consist of just running up the gut, even though that works for
Clemson..Clemson staff are all full of life, vibrant, positive
about everything. Bring in coaches like that into this program
and great players will want to play for you. Chuck is an old
fart and a dud and is so 80's style of football without the 4
and 5-star players. Like AirTurn alluded to. Chucky is no Bill
Belichick where he can afford to be sarcastic and cold to
reporters. When you reach Belichick status than be like that,
until then put the happy, friendly game face on when talking and
dealing with the media and public. Maybe, just maybe that will
resonate into getting better athletes who want to play for you.

He acted like that on at least three occasions last season in
the press conferences. Three different games. But when Roger
Rubin of Newsday asked a question it was "Oh of course, I'll
answer your question. Please say I'm a great coach"

Since Wake Forest is a private school, they're not obligated to
release finances and contract details, unless FOIL'd, but FBS
DC's generally make a good amount of money, especially as you
move up in conferences. Hemphill could easily be making $400,000
a year. At this point, no chance he'd leave for SBU and take
almost the same amount of money. In a couple of years, he'll be
       a G5 head coach.
Btw, I'm curious, I don't even know how I found this site, but
wonder if athletics knows about it and reads any of this.
