while i don't disagree- those coordinators might see the
challenges of playing and recruiting CFB in an isolated bubble.
because lets be honest- that's what LI is.
i know that this has scared away coaches in other sports.
maybe our new pres knows someone!

Absolutely. But that all hinges on University itself. If Shawn
Heilbron wants to continue to break bread with old man Chuck,
then forget it. Maybe he needs to go as well? It was my
understanding Chucky was influential in bringing SH on board.

also part of the problem. Too many favoritism and you scratch my
back I scratch your back bonding runs rampant here. They aren't
looking out for the fans or the culture of the game. It's all
about being pals, chumps, part of the club thing. Trust me, I
used to see how it goes in this organization. Clean house and
bring in all-new personal and start fresh. I also agree with
bringing in coaches from Big 12. SB's new President is from that

Not directly from SH, but sources last year told me Shawn
dislikes Chuck. A lot. But with the two FCS playoff appearances
after his arrival, he couldn't get rid of Chuck. And then it was
if they have a bad season, bye-bye. Then it was if they lose to
Albany, goodbye. Then it was wait till after the recruiting
period. Now it's, "We can't afford it due to Covid".

I think Heilbron is too smart of a man to fully approve of
Priore, but in that case, why extend him? His contract was
running out anyways. The extension was ill-timed considering
they ended up losing their final 2 games of the season anyway in
2018, then embarrassed themselves throughout the entirety of
2019.
We would have been done with Chuck by now had it not been for
that decision. Aside from not taking enough steps to move up to
FBS, extending Priore has been my biggest criticism of Heilbron
so far.
I do believe that if Jim Fiore was still the AD, Stony Brook
would already be FBS by now, but he was also an evil moron who
Stony Brook fired because he kept sexually harassing his own
athletes, so there is the trade-off to consider. Heilbron has
been much better on the social/political causes front but is not
as aggressive as Fiore was.

The extension was rather odd, but at the time it was deemed okay
seeing how they were about to enter the FCS playoffs for the
second consecutive season. 2020 would be the year Chuck got
another 2-year extension, based off the last two. If he doesn't
get one, that should indicate what the future holds.
As for Shawn, the athletes love him. He knows all of their
names, seriously, walk into the arena during the day when
training is happening and see Shawn casually walk around and say
hi to all of them, ask how their major is going, which he knows
offhand. Man knows his crowd.

contrast with former ADs (one already mentioned and actually was
generous).
before that, barely showed up to events or knew athletes. but
also recall that we were a division 4 program at that point.

Remember what I said earlier about how the state system works.
If you are part of the "good boys club" your job is secure for
life. Chucky is loved by SBU, Why? I have no idea. He is nasty.
He is not good with fans, he is not transparent, and he sucks as
a HC. Chucky is everything bad for football these days for D1.
Some verbal, behind close doors deal must have been made when SH
became AD that sealed the fate of Chucky with SB. I could see
him leaving only with retirement because of age. Welcome to the
State civil service way of doing things. UAlbany has some
problem at SB. Once you are locked in, you are golden and can't
do wrong.

With the media, Chuck is an asshole. Talking to Newsday or
News12, he kisses ass and answers whatever questions they ask,
but in postgame press conferences when someone from the
Statesman asked him questions, they were mocked. Skip to about
3:40 on this press conference when asked why he settled for a FG
when down by a lot and needing a TD.

Just a random thought I had while watching the Seahawks game and
Jason Meyers on the screen. He went to Marist, went undrafted,
but still, he’s been a Pro Bowl player in the NFL. School had
their first player drafted in 2014. Look at Wagner, Cam Gill
went undrafted and now he’s playing in Tampa Bay, and a former
player won the Super Bowl last year with the Chiefs. SBU has no
such luck or success with former players.

Yeah that's quite the embarrassment.
Everyone without a doubt knows that Stony Brook's football
program is legions ahead of Marist's and Wagner's. But the lack
of players at the NFL level is a real bad mark on the program.
Miguel Maysonet was a stud in the early 2010s and he went
nowhere. Dominick Reyes was a defensive stalwart who is now best
known for getting screwed over by UFC judges against Jon Jones.
Does anyone outside of Stony Brook remember who Will Tye was?
