The Great Danes stadium seats less than SBU, 8,500 versus
10,300, with LaValle able to hold another 2,000 in standing
room. Albany has not released details about standing room. But
they sucked the last few years and still beat us in the final
game. Respect to them though, from projected 12th last year to
second. Lost all of their WR production from last year but their
QB is one bad mother fucker who will be a big problem for the
Seawolves as long as he dons the white and purple (Woudln't be
shocked to see him grad transfer out after his redshirt
sophomore or redshirt junior season.

true. also i wouldnt be surprised if the breakdown of those #s
revealed that uaLBany has much better student participation,
expressed as a percentage at least.

SBU has the same issues that Hofstra had when they played
football there’s just too many other things to do on LI then to
go to a football game. I still think the biggest thing they can
do is promotions that go on throughout the game so that there’s
a reason for the students to stay.

Promotions are good and yes, kids like free stuff. I also think
if SB would actually make the playoffs and go deep every year,
fans will come. But when you have a stubborn HC who doesn't
believe in change and a really good QB won't come to SB, well,
reap what you sow. SB will follow the lines of Hofstra with
their Football program if big Chuck stays on board..

Another problem I think is that there are a lot of kids who
don’t care about football of any kind. This is where Stony Brook
needs to indoctrinate them into liking it. Sadly, there is no
force that can peer pressure students into liking football
here... no overall cultural viewpoint that if you don’t like
sports, you’re a loser. Which there should be. There should at
least be the baseline understanding that you’re not being cool
if you don’t like football. But I don’t think that sort of peer
pressure exists right now.

Win, the bottom line just win games. Stony Brook will never get
their students to pack the stadium. This is not the FBS. But I
must say. SB does have a very strong local community support,
like me. WE are starving for a winning football program on long
island. Not just a football team. If LIU becomes an FCS
powerhouse, watch how that school explodes. SB can easily
accomplish that. Just find a good HC with strong ties to
Prominent football camps down south and around the east coast.
They will come here because of the school's academics. But they
also want to have a chance to make the NFL too. With this
current football coaching squad, forget it.

Hofstra's decision to close down football benefited everyone.
That money ended up going towards the medical school, which in
turn placed tons of med students in hospitals across the island
that needed help. I for one can attest to that after stints at
LIJ some years back, where Hofstra med students were in and out
of the room constantly. Good for the school to realize one thing
was failing and that something else could come from it. Now SBU
does not need to do that as we have a great Hospital and med
program.

I've been tracking LIU's offers, not much on the commitment
front, and the ones they get are players flooded with NAIA and
DII offers. Limited resources financially, the stadium is
smaller than LaValle, tiny press box, no suites, every seat is
bleachers which means your ass is frozen and in pain come
November time. The odds of LIU becoming a powerhouse are almost
the same as good ole' Chuck taking over the South Carolina
vacancy.

i talked to an alum yesterday who wants to attempt gathering
money to lure in meyer. ::)
if the experiment* didnt work with the ol' ball coach, not sure
it would work with others. that's a tough conference slate.
muschamp's success in austin is way behind him now.

Yeah, I agree. I dont see LIU become a powerhouse neither. My
point was. If SB can find a way to bring in some really good top
FCS level recruiter. SB fans can fill LaValle stadium . Long
Islanders are very hungry for that and would support SB. Let's
get at least one player drafted too. That is also a dagger for
athletes. They see SB never had a single player drafted. Why
would they come here.
