When Lyle left as DC and McIntyre took over most people on this
forum thought SBU defense would be bad but that never happened
having said that I believe Coach Noel will do a great job.
On another note a really good player out of New Jersey posted on
Twitter that he had an in home visit from Coach P and the OC
today

Not 100% true, Campi. I didn't do a pie chart on statistics but
I do believe this year and last year SB defense gave up a ton of
yards every game. I know there were quite a few games where SB
gave up 400+ yards in a game. The most yards in the 10 years
I've been following SB football.

Thats correct and the middle of the field was always open to
the run or pass . Albany ran all over us before we figured out
how to slow them down .

Missing our primary run stopper had a much bigger effect than
anyone could have predicted

Definitely!. Kamara was a huge run stopper in the middle, but
just to rely on one guy on defense says a lot. Thats like Jamel
Warney being the entire team for SB basketball, and he was.
Having multiple playmakers is the key to success. Easier said
than done, I ge that. But a highly respected coaching staff can
go out to find those playmakers and fill the roster.

How many first year starters played on defense last season? I
think if you check you will find out there were quite a few
Bob McIntyre was the DC for at least 4 years and prior to last
year the defense was pretty good so in my opinion I think it
will be much better in 2020

Its kind of sad, that when we all keep on talking about how
great the defense is hardly anyone addresses the awesome job
Tony Thompson from the special teams side on the punt scheme on
punts and FG's blocked and how we generally play a great
position game when we have to pin our opponents inside the 20
when we cant make a long FG.

That might change this year as the PK from New Jersey missed his
freshman season due to a injury will get his chance to be the
starting PK and Kick Offs Angelo Gugliello
Tony is also the recruiter for Nassau, Queens, Staten Island and
Brooklyn
