this is a bad loss. sessoms buried us. he hit three deep shots
in the (second half alone) from mattituck. HM for sarr, who had
14 boards. and 19 points!
we didnt shoot well but really, defense was just not there
tonight. uncontested backdoors.
starting to look like ola got off the bus at halftime (i know
it's a home game). he got us used to double-doubles!
impressive to put up 20 in only one half of play.
i also note- low TOs tonight, but boards were a tie (we should
dominate with our size, no?).

Maybe I’m just really pissed... but having our players mess
around during warmups, doing ridiculous dunks that they aren’t
even close to making needs to stop.. I watched us and bing, and
bing had a professional all business warm up... we were just
joking around thinking we were going to roll tonight. I’m heated

the ladies won.
gueye had a double-double.
looking for positives here. how about this: 20+ win seasons
have resulted in exactly one NCAA bid. maybe it's better to
lose now and get hot in march???
and does that really matter when you're 1-8 in the postseason
anyway.

Generally when you’re 17-point favorites you expect to roll.
We needed to bury them early, and we completely failed. The
lackadaisical post defense — how many times did the big on Bing
just walk it in for the layup? They hung around and then Sessoms
pulled magic out of his asshole.
We were up 4 with 2:30 to go. No excuse to piss that away.
Against a D2-quality team. God, I’m angry and I’m not going to
get over this. You should have learned by now after last year!

Really bad loss lots of mental mistakes , back door scoring .
They wanted this one we just expected to win and got our butts
kicked . Forget any national ranking for the rest of the
season. Turnovers down but free throws down also that hurt us
.

Missed the game. How the hell did Pierre Sarr go for 19, 14 and
5?
A week to get our act together.

You're lucky! I had a horrible night's sleep, after a horrible
game. Sarr was the X factor; he went back-door I don't know how
many times; he out-hustled rebounded our guys all night long.
Sessoms killed us with big shots. Tinsely was a monster,
particularly in the 1st half - beat us to every ball, and
out-maneuvered our bigs consistently. We were in a total funk
the first half. Came alive in 2nd half, but every punch we
threw, Binghamton answered. They spread the floor well on us,
and executed better than we did. They beat us in every phase of
the game. Our defensive performance was well below par. What
else can I say?
This was effectively like losing 2 games. We lost the game, but
everyone else meaningful in the league will beat them in their
match-up. So a huge, uncalled for, effective "double loss",
imo.

Imagine this, if you dare:
I attended the game last night. The previous SBU game I
attended? The debacle against Bing last year in the opening
round of AE playoffs.
You talk about deja vu all over again.
Good for Bing but, wow, what a shocker based on what I gathered
coming into the game and all this buzz of SBU mid-major rankings
and the death-rattle of a Bing program in complete disarray.
Looked to me like Team Sessoms and a completely new cast of
support players just dusted off the game plan from last year and
said, "Hey, why not just do this again?"
One of the lingering thoughts I had was how Lattimer seemed to
(once again) be working his tail off to shadow/disrupt Sessoms,
and Lattimer to his credit was there, whole game, mostly right
on him. But did it matter? It's like Lattimer was just this
annoying mosquito flying around, but Sessoms still did pretty
much whatever he wanted.
And whoever Pierre Sarr is, he looked like all-conference to me.
Final SBU lingering question: What happened to Otchere? Has he
been hurt (seems he's all taped up)? While he grabbed a few
rebounds and got a couple of blocks, he seemed oddly absent and
a non-factor most of the time on the floor (and of course he sat
a lot too, and not because of foul trouble). After his impact
last year I thought he would be a monster this year, but he just
kind of seemed oddly not there last night.
Well, maybe I just brought some bad lingering mojo on my return
to SBU basketball. If I go to another game at IFCU, I'll take a
shower first....
