My first, second and third thoughts: How the hell did we lose
that game in March? Ugh.
Bingo's headed for another bottom half finish in the America
East. In fact, they haven't finished higher than fifth in
conference since Broadus took them to the tournament in 2009 –
and then making a quick exit amid a recruiting scandal. He
resurfaced as the HC at Morgan State this year and has them in
good shape already.
I thought they were on to something early on this year,
utilizing their young talent to upend a few decent teams – Army,
BU, Sacred Heart, etc – but it's been the same old Binghamton
ever since, with three lopsided conference losses leading into
this one. Most recently, they got flattened by Maine 86-63 up in
Orono on Sunday, getting outrebounded 43-23 and allowing Maine
to shoot 53 percent. Coincidentally, they beat the Black Bears
by 23 at BU late last year.
Dempsey has really ridden Sessoms, Mills and Tinsley in the
first half of the season. Tinsley leads the conference in
minutes at a whopping 38.1 per game, which ranks fifth
nationally. To give you an idea of how rare that is, he's the
only freshman in the top 50, and one of only three in the top
100. In league, Sessoms ranks fifth (34.2) and Mills is seventh
(33.9). I just wonder if these guys can sustain it for an entire
season, before they really mature and before they get in the
weight room in the offseason. Dempsey raves about Tinsley's
toughness and he's had to be. I just hope that, with the way
players move around, they all stick around. Six players
transferred out in the offseason, so only THREE Bearcats remain
from the team who beat us in March – Sessoms, Caldwell and
reserve Leo Gallagher.
You'll recall that Binghamton will play a 2-3 zone, which may
have given us trouble in the past, but it should be something
against which we can get wide-open looks from deep. I also think
we can utilize Gueye as a weapon in the high post. We saw a
little bit of that against Albany.
Offensively for BU, it obviously all starts with Sessoms, who
did not impress in his first game here but sure showed up in the
postseason, going for 26 despite shooting only 1 for 6 from the
line. I was definitely one of his naysayers, but he was terrific
that night. Of course, in the semis in Burlington, he put up a
donut. Zippo.
Whether it's on Wednesday or down the road, I just can't see a
younger version of their roster coming in – Show, Barnard, Davis
and Stewart out, a bunch of newcomers in – and competing against
what I view to be a team far superior to last year's, all of
whom remember their last visit.
Us by 20.

I think you could go either way. Tinsley's a nice role player,
but not really a #2 option. He's their pick and roll/pop guy
with Sessoms, and he'll also plant himself in a corner to knock
down the three. You'll see that his breakout performances are
when he's been on point from deep. I do think his minutes are
less about ability (which isn't to say he isn't good) and more
an indictment of the roster – not enough talent, not enough
size. Look at their frontcourt for the foreseeable future and
recruiting profile on VerbalCommits. You want to talk about
grim. Yikes.
For us, he'd be a good second guy off the bench after Gueye.
Eventually he and Mills will be good though. It's just so early
to count on 35 TO 38 MINUTES A NIGHT from those two. SBU stat
links are broken for the early to mid 2010s, but I do see
Dougher was over 35 for a season in '08-09.
They have gotten some good minutes recently from this kid JJ
Brown, who seems like a Dion Waiters instant-offense type.
Bingo's actually played a decent amount of man this year too,
along with a 1-2-2 press and even I believe some 3-2 in the
halfcourt.

I still can’t believe we lost to them last year. In the first
round. A game computers gave us a 96% chance at winning. I
already had my eyes set on the inevitable finals match in
Burlington and then that happened! Ugh. Way to get ahead of
myself there.
Sessoms was held to 2 by Lowell and 9 by Vermont. I really don’t
think he’s that great and last year thought he was well behind
Cam Healy and Latimer in terms of ROY. I’m honestly surprised to
see they have 3 guys averaging double digits. JC Show graduated
and Thomas Bruce abandoned ship so I don’t recognize the names
at first glance.

Although they only have 3 returnees from last year's team, they
still have Sessoms, and he lit us up in the QF game last year.
Him being there should be motivation enough to avenge last
year's loss. We need to bury these guys tomorrow night.

If there was ever a game I'd want us to put up 100 points, it
would be this one. Does that actually happen? No way in my mind,
but It would be nice. March was a travesty and an embarrassment.
Maybe you chalk that one up to Boals having one foot out the
door already. IDK.

59 seconds in and we are 0/3. guess from where.
update- 0/4. i know it's the zone, but we're down 11-4. to 1-4
bingo. at home.
then garcia drove the hoop, scored a layup. and garcia just hit
a jumper from the line. this happens every game now.

I don't know what the hell we're doing, but we're struggling
with Bing again. We're bigger than them across the board. Not
sure why they're giving us a hard time.

Bing is showing zone. With our 3 shooters we should be beating
them
