SBU vs Albany @ 2pm. Televised on IO118
Huge game for us. I have my doubts but I hope Stony Brook comes
       out with a Win.

Both teams are evenly matched in terms of ratings at this point
in the season (and in the bottom half of D1 teams). But I'm
letting my "cautious pessimism" get the best of me. In any case,
they've both achieved about the same level of success so far,
but I expect that SB's home court advantage should prevail. If
it doesn't, we're back where we started.

Stony Brook has to win this game. If they win this game I can
see them winning their follow up two games (against UMBC and BU)
which can potentially put them 5-0 in the AE. I think this team
can do it. I dont want to get ahead of my self and with high
expectations, lets just see how things turn out

I like our chances at home Sunday. If this were on the road
it would be tough. Seawolves by 6 points !

I don't think this is a "must win" game for Stony Brook. It's
definitely a game we could win, and one I think we "should" win,
       but a lose isn't terrible.
The things I really want to see tomorrow:
       (1) Shutting down Suero - and I don't mean keeping him to 4pts
on 2-12 shooting. Just make sure that he doesn't pull a Holland
and beat us all by himself. If he scores 30, and SBU wins by
10, thats perfectly fine. If he scores 5, and we lose because
we were triple teaming him all game, thats bad.
       (2) Get the bench involved - as in getting quality minutes from
the bench. Hayes and McAllister seem to be regressing badly,
but considering their physical tools, they shouldn't be
struggling like they are. Get them involved, build some
confidence, and build towards the tournament.
       (3) Aggressive play - we know Albany likes to drive the paint
and draw FT's, so be physical and make them earn their points.
If they drive, get a body on them and draw the charge. It's the
America East, you know the refs are going to go whistle happy
(eg, John Holland, 2.4 seconds left)
All in all, I'd love to see SBU come out hard and establish they
are the better team early, but i'd be fine with a grind it out
       game.

Its not a "must" win, true, but I still think they should win
this game and should play hard to contain that Albany offense.
is a statement game. Both teams are 2-0, SB wins this one and
takes 1st place by itself with a five-game streak and UMBC next.
For me, its a huge game early the season.

Just to be clear, any game against Albany is a big one for me,
and I want to see SBU put a whoopin on them. Doesn't matter if
it's Basketball, Football, Womens Lacrosse, Field Hockey, or
       Club Rugby.

Very interesting game today, easily the best on the AE schedule.
To me this looks like the classic case of offense vs. defense,
but there is also something else going on here. Albany really
wants to prove something, and I think how they start the game
will give a pretty good indication of their mindset. Pressure
is usually on the home team to hold serve, but Albany keeps
hearing that they are the favorites right now so it will be
interesting to see how they handle that!
In a nutshell, defense must win it for SB, as long as they don't
go into a prolonged dry spell offensively. I doubt that they
can stop Suero, but to me, it's more important that they don't
allow all three of their top scorers to have their normal games.
Pace of the game is also important, in that a game in the 70's
clearly favors Albany. I really don't have a feel for this
game, as I just don't know enough about how Albany will react,
as I haven't had a chance to watch them yet this year. For now,
I'll say the home team eaks out a win by the score of
66-63....possible key players (not counting Dougher/Brenton):
Rapier, Coley and Joyner must all play well today, especially
Joyner staying on the floor and rebounding the basketball. You
also need someone from your bench to provide some scoring punch,
be it Hayes/Bracey/Jackson.....wouldn't be surprised to see
Rouse hit a big shot today; he's been very quiet lately, but has
played in big games before......we'll see.....

As previously stated, I doubt this game produces any lasting
conclusions about the season. However, the need to protect home
       court during
conference play is important. Win your home games , split or do
better on the road and you will be in good shape.
Having said that, I am looking forward to seeing how SBU deals
with Suero. By all accounts, his offensive talent is above AE
       standards.
I am also interested to see if UA can handle the SBU frontline.
Puk is a big body but I am not sure how well the Danes match up.
And, as always ( as others have said ), whenever UA and SBU get
together in any sport the juices get flowing.
       See everyone later today!
P.S. I hope a good amount of people stick around to show the
       ladies some love!

What a dominance... we had the game from start to finish. At
points when it seemed like Albany was closing in Stony Brook
went right back and took control of it.
       Joyner played great offensively.
Dougher was much improved in comparison to the game at vestal
       with 19pts today.
And our bench showed the depth this team has.
56.4% shooting on a weak Albany defense and 62.5% from the 3pt
       line
