2019 G3: STONY BROOK vs. Wagner 6pm SNY
By: guest369 Date: September 14, 2019, 2:04 am
---------------------------------------------------------
It’s our SNY debut! Not to mention the first game where alcohol
is being sold at LaValle.
I know we almost got 10,000 people last time, but I’d be shocked
if we came even close this week. The students are pissed off and
boycotting football because they moved the Homecoming tailgate
away from the big lot to host a BBQ there instead.
I can see this affecting the entire season’s attendance numbers
because the kids are unbelievably angry. They want to watch
attendance numbers crash and burn and so many of them are flat
out refusing to ever attend a football game again. Victor Ochi
tweeted about it too and got plenty of support.

Yup, and I engaged in that conversation. Ochi is 100%. This
university only has it's priority set on making money and lost
all connections with the student base. Attendance will crash and
burn from the students and eventually, it will trickle it's way
down to the season ticket holders. Dark days ahead for this
program if they dont start listening to the students..

I have been saying that for the last 3 years that they should
have school kids come for free and I also have been saying that
with the amount of HS teams playing on Friday Nights there is no
reason not to have a bunch of teams on Saturday. I also told the
AD with the amount of NYC kids coming here SBU should work a
deal with the LIRR to get City fans out to games plus give a
good deal on game tickets plus something from the snack bar.
One last thing when we were out in Utah last week since it was
their first home game they marched in all the incoming freshmen
and gave them a free seat in the student section it was awesome
to see that

Quite frankly, I thought it was stupid that we didn’t tailgate
for every single home game last year and only went all out
during homecoming. That’s pathetic. Look at any Big Ten school
and how the kids go crazy for game day — any game day — and then
look at us with our empty lot for all but one game of the entire
year. Something needs to change. It’s inexcusable that the lot
isn’t rocking every home game.

wagner couldnt run the ball. rushing attempts were 59 to 12
(not sure i've seen that before!).
on the other side- nekhet and white and fields were great on the
ground. credit to the OL for opening nice holes, especially on
the off tackle. we had some miscues (lots of flags early) and a
50 yard TD run called back, but got the job done.
3rd down wagner was 1/10; we were 10/19. that seems to always
be the leading indicator.

Rarely do i complain about gameday experience or anything else
but i have to say this. We took some special needs teenagers to
the game tonight. One of the young men had on a plastic kids
football helmet ( a kids halloween costume helmet ) and also
had a football with him. He was stopped at the gate and told he
couldnt bring either into the game. Correct me if i am wrong but
i have seen kids throwing footballs on that hill since the
stadium opened. Also they have the youth teams who play at
halftime bring in real football helmets to the stadium. I mean
this young man is clearly special needs and just eanted to wear
his helmet and hold his football witch he does everyday and
these out of touch dbags stop him as if he has illegal contraban
on him. Not to mention the fact that the two of us are football
alumni who took the kids to the game. Unreal how they continue
not to get it, not cool. On a side note to this i was told by an
employee if the NY Lizards lacrosse team that they wont play at
SB because they are to difficult to deal with and are not fan
friendly like they are at hofstra where they let kids bring in
their sticks.

Attendance? A pitiful 5,742. A drop off of almost 4,000 from
last game. That’s how badly athletics has angered the student
base. I don’t see their boycott ending anytime soon. We haven’t
had attendance numbers that low since last year’s rainy home
opener.
