With the number of players in the portal, I'm sure SBU will grab
at least 1-2 DI transfers, but don't expect them to be former
high-profile players on the rebound. JUCO makes the most sense
because they're almost always immediately eligible and if shit
hits the fan, the coaching staff can blame the player for lack
of talent.

its really sad what's happened in college sports.
of course, some will argue that the coaches can leave, so why
cant the athlete. or that the athlete is just bettering
themselves, if they can upgrade they should be able to.
even though that's all true, it's just bad for sports- all
sports. bad for fans, bad for coaches, bad for universities.
and i query whether it's even all that great for students
(transferring credits, new friends, new classes, honoring
commitments, thinking the grass is greener, etc.). but we were
likely headed this way before the pandemic anyway, and this was
the final push.

He went to Garden City CC and then Iona. Currently holds offers
from SBU, Alcorn State, and a couple of other HBCU's.

Nine scholarship players from UA have jumped ship. Nine. I
understand there’s a coaching change but my god. I also read
that Syracuse is expected to have three players back from this
year’s team.
UA landed a kid who had good numbers at D-II Lock Haven,
including 46% from three. You can downplay that, but he’s
produced and if he doesnt play major minutes he will help in
some capacity I’m sure. Who here thinks we need shooters? Ha ha.

It's a mix of a new coach and extended eligibility. We'll see a
massive number of students in the portal each year for at least
the next 4 due to the non-counting year.
