You cant throw the towel in on the coach just yet. Let me be the
first to show him the door. I give him one more season to see
what he can do to come up with a better JV play calling plan.

First of all, congrats to Binghamton.....this was their NCAA
Championship game. After a dismal season, they came to our
house, crushed us for 34+ minutes, and then hung on for this
win. The Triple S's (Sessoms, Stewart, and Show) were
magnificent, and they deserved the win, based on how well they
played for most of the game.
That said, pretty devastating loss tonight, that's for sure. To
have 9 wins all season, come into our house with a good crowd,
and beat us, is quite remarkable to say the least. We just
didn't play with any sense of urgency in the first half, as
their zone totally stifled us. Sessoms seemed to carve us up
like paper mache the whole night. Our leader, Akwasi, didn't
have it tonight, and if he decides not to return for next
season, certainly it ended on a poor note for him.
I really felt we lost the game by halftime; just felt it was too
much to overcome. I also thought the refs were pathetic tonight
- ticky tack fouls, indecisive calls all night, and I was
particularly upset that they reviewed the Cornish foul at the
end of the game. I've never seen a foul call reviewed, unless
reviewing whether the defender was in the circle under the
basket is considered a reviewable play. I totally lost my
voice for yelling at the refs the entire night. That said, the
calls/no calls were not what lost the game for us.
Under normal circumstances I'd say that 24-8, which some big OOC
wins this year coupled with a #2 seed would be an extremely
successful and unexpected season, but losing in the
quarterfinals at home, really puts a damper on things. Coach
Boals had a great year overall, but he and the guys just didn't
rise to the occasion in game that has to be considered must-win.
On to baseball and the Yankees for me. Thanks to Checkmate for
all his valuable write-ups and insight throughout the year - I
really enjoy being part of this board, and conversing with you
fellow ballers.

Back in my room now.
Profanities is all I can say.
The crowd was on fire. I planted myself in the middle of the
left section and the place erupted every time we scored. It kept
my optimism alive. The charge call reversal... I screamed at the
ref enough about that. Bing just kept knocking down their threes
in the first. Sessoms and Stewart killed us. And we dug
ourselves in too deep.

I'd be over the moon to make either of those. Winning either
would take alot of the sting out of this loss. If nothing else,
Cornish deserves to go out better than this.

Watching the postgame press conference was absolutely brutal.
Cornish was silent the entire time, choked up by tears and it
was an incredibly depressing scene. After all he’s done for the
team this year, he doesn’t deserve this.

much much more likely to leave for a better job than to be shown
the door. I don't think either will happen, but with 24 wins, a
nation's best 13 on the road, a second-place finish in the
regular season, and all this with just one senior, I'd say
that's a job well done.

Agreed. Any doubts about Boals should be erased after this
season. It's definitely more likely he gets to a better gig than
gets let go. This team was a year ahead of schedule and despite
the headscratching performances against weak competition at
times, this was a very fun team to watch from the first game on.
Post season or not I'll say this was a very successful season.
Did anybody expect that legendary rally to beat GW? Or the road
win against South Carolina? For all the talk about RPI, strength
of record etc. We had the best resume in the country for a night
after that SC win. This was all a far cry from the maybe. 500
team I expected back in October.

Yeboah scored 515 points this year, the fourth-most in a single
season. If SBU gets an invite to any tournament, Yeboah should
score three more to get the third-most.
Hoping he sticks around for his senior year, another season like
this would firmly establish him as the second-highest scorer in
SBU history.

Final from Burlington: Vermont 84-51
Bingo's starting backcourt had 45 against us on Saturday. They
had 8 tonight, including a bagel from Sessoms.

Figured they'd at least put up a fight. This is infuriating
