I could mail this one in. The odds are pretty good that we
advance and do so pretty comfortably. But I'm going to do my
part here. If I'm encouraging the boys not to overlook this
game, I ALSO will NOT overlook it either. I will NOT
underestimate Binghamton. I WILL write a preview as if we're
walking into Rupp Arena or Cameron Indoor, even if we're facing
       a nine-win team at home.
But hey, I get it. At almost no point during our two games with
Bingo were we in trouble. Yeah, BU did erase a 12-point halftime
deficit here in January, but nobody with two eyes viewed them as
a real threat. When they drew even at 31-all, we ripped off the
next 15 points to win going away. Game two was a demolition from
       the opening tip.
I suppose I give the Bearcats a puncher's shot. Sessoms has
shown he can score, but whether he can do it against elite
defense on the perimeter or at the rim. I do like Stewart, but
is he really somebody who's going to stun us with 25 or 30? I
doubt it. Show would need to shoot considerably better than what
we've seen the last few years. The only possible concern I have
is the 2-3 zone defense, which can occasionally give us some
trouble. I think we'll get good looks – the BU backcourt is a
little lazy in pressing up – but haven't shot the three
particularly well of late either. The good news is that we
aren't a one-trick pony. We can get the ball inside and score,
or do it with second-chance opportunities.
Binghamton's shown some bite on the road, winning their last
three. That included a 23-point beatdown of Maine, and a more
impressive 15-point victory at Lowell. The common thread in
those games? They shot the hell out of it – 10 for 22 from three
to beat Lowell, and an outrageous 19 for 36 night up in Bangor.
Show had one of those nights I was talking about – 10 for 14
from the field, ALL FROM THREE, on his way to a career-high 30.
As I said before though, I don't see Sessoms or Show getting the
looks they got against those teams.
It's worth noting the kind of history we can make here. Two wins
and we tie 2015-16 team for the Division I record. Three more,
whether it's in the AE tournament or a combination of the AE and
postseason, and we set the D-I mark and also tie Bash's 77-78
Final Four team. This team ... those records ... I certainly
didn't see that coming. But the only win total that matters is
three, as in the next three. Although we might not be the
favorite in this conference tournament, it would be a missed
opportunity, but this team has all the pieces to the puzzle. We
just have to put it all together.

By the way, this is on the Binghamton website. Anyone in the
athletic office that is OK with this should hang his or her
       head.

The AE has been so crazy in the past I wouldn't sleep on
Binghamton to scare us. Don't forget we had no business going
into Albany last year and winning either (That was the 4-5 game
and not the 2-7 game, but the point remains).

Checkmate, I think I missed something; don't understand your
       comment about their stats sheet.
Time to get pumped.....only one game to think about, and that's
       tonight's game. I worry about Show - I watched that 30 point
effort, and he can spot up and shoot. I'd put Latimer on him,
assuming Latimer is good to go.
Your comment about Ron Bash brought about a rush of memories. I
was an UG at SBU during that time; what a team it was - Keith,
Wright, Tillery, Castigle, just to name a few. Bash was NOT a
player's coach. I remember watching their round-of-16 (or maybe
it was quarterfinal) game in the NCAA Div III Tournament that
year on closed-circuit TV (do any of you guys know what that
is?), where he went 4-corners stall early in the first half -
there was no shot clock back in those days. We wound up winning
the game, but it was a ridiculously low-scoring game due to this
       tactic. Sorry for digressing here......

Five players have their names listed at least twice. Richard
Caldwell Jr.'s listed four times! In order to do Show's and
Barnard's averages, I had to add up all the stats and use a
calculator. I'm not saying it's difficult to do or the end of
the world, but it's such a bad look for a media relations
department when this is probably the most high-profile sport at
the school. I challenge you to find another Division I school
       that has this.

Interesting. The line opened at 13 and is down to as little as
       12 in a couple places.
UMBC has lengthened its lead over Albany to nine. Assuming Maine
doesn't upset Vermont and we don't fall flat on our faces, we'd
       have UMBC here on Tuesday.

Checkmate, I guess I was sleeping when I looked initially -
yeah, pretty ridiculous. Those High School interns need some
       help.....
Umbc defense is pretty strong today,?but offensively, they
aren’t all that impressive. They’ve taken away shots from UA’s
       guards all game.
Go Hartford! Go Maine (ha!)! Go SBU!

Could Maine pull a major upset today ? Love to see it.

Any hope they had went down the chute with Fleming’s injury.
