I expected this tonight. We were struggling with the bottom of
the conference so meeting a class team like Vermont just
leveled us. Now UMBC and Hartford on the horizon . We could
lose both of those very easily.

Just got home; haven't read everyone's comments yet.
We got totally outplayed by a well-coached team. Their athletes
aren't nearly as athletic as us, but their ability to run
offensive sets, move the ball around, set picks and screens, and
shoot, are just much better than we are able to. Ernie Duncan
is a really good ball player, and seeing him live makes you
appreciate all he can do - not only shoot, but he is strong,
passes well, and has great court vision. Their defense did shut
us down, but again, as in the past 4-5 games, we failed to move
the ball around, set enough screens, drive to the hoop, and get
decent shots. We forced so much again.
Cornish clearly had the worst game of his career. He took a
giant step backwards today, as he looked like the Cornish of
last year. And kudos to Coach Becker; he gave Cornish the
3-ball all night, and Cornish fell for it, hook line and sinker.
Also, just totally out of control all night. I legitimately
knew 2 minutes into the game that his body language was
horrible, and he was going to have one of those games. Elijah
had a very poor game as well.
Not because we lost, but I think I have NEVER not enjoyed a
basketball game as much as tonight. The incessant foul calling
on both sides was just horrendous, and the refs were out of
control with their calls. This wasn't a basketball game in my
eyes, it was a foul shooting contest. 2 minutes in when the
refs spent 5 minutes debating whether Vermont was to get a new
shot clock or not, told the whole story with the refs. Just too
bad that early foul trouble for our key guys dictated the rest
       of the game.
Maybe this game is a wake-up call, as we gave home court
advantage right back to them. Despite winning 7-in-a-row, we
haven't been playing the best basketball, and fighting from
behind tonight, finally caught up to us.
Need to detox after this game, and pick it up again next week.

going down 18 against Maine didn't do it. I guess barely
squeaking by winless Albany didn't do it. A loss would be the
absolutely worst way to do it, but if nothing comes from this, I
genuinely have a lot to question about this team.

Green, I hope there are more students who are absolutely
furious. Because it looked and sounded to me like the students
were absolutely indifferent to the result of this game.
When/where I went to school, the students were the backbone to a
homecourt advantage. That is not the case at the Fed, or at
least it wasn’t tonight. We filled the seats but as somebody
said, it was like a morgue. We miss that football player who
used to go bananas during every media timeout.
But it would obviously be silly to blame the fans for this one.
Vermont flatout took it to us - a very impressive dismantling in
our place without their leader. How about a 22-4 run before
halftime, you go into the second hoping to make a charge, and
UVM effortlessly tacks on seven more in the first minutes after
       intermission.
Nothing came easy for us - contested twos, contested (and
forced) threes, very few second chances. Latimer looked like he
might go for 25 early but then went quiet. Yeboah never got out
of the gate. But what’s most telling to me are the shots from
Cornish - seven shots, all threes. Robin Duncan sagged way off
Cornish and McKenzie, and was more than willing to give them the
perimeter look. Why wouldn’t they? As a result, Cornish got
nothing going to the rim, and the few transition opportunities
seemed to turn into the ball being poked away. Just a
frustrating night offensively. We can outwork the low-end teams
in conference but Vermont’s too well coached for that.
On the defensive end, how many times did we see the Duncans back
our guys down? Robin did it every time he had the ball. He’d
draw the double team and dish the open man - it didn’t always go
in (UVM didn’t even shoot that well) but the looks were good. I
thought that UVM was much more physical, chased down the loose
balls, and got higher quality shots than us all night.
The fouls were killer and made for a miserable night as a fan.
Both teams were in the bonus with 13 minutes left in the game.
D’Angelo Russell in the house though. It was pretty neat seeing
the Cotton Eyed Joe kids mob him after their dance ended.
On to UMBC. Back to work.

I'd like to see Garcia starting and getting over 25 minutes a
game. He's shooting close to 50% and gets to the line. (Maybe
flip-flop his minutes with Olaniyi, who would be the first
       person off the bench?)
Also, I think I saw Latimer bringing up the ball a few times at
the end. I wonder if we will see him at the point anytime this
       year.

I like getting Garcia more minutes. Olaniyi has been struggling
as of late. Additionally, I think we should utilize our small
lineup more often too. We seemed to do fairly well with it.
Especially if Big Jeff is going to continue to get into foul
trouble and Ochefu still appears to have vanished off the face
       of the earth.
Myles at PG would be something to play around with for next
year. Though I honestly think we should really work the transfer
       market for that.

Score outcome aside, the number of fouls being called in the
college game in general and last night in particular removes the
entertainment value of the games. I watched parts of it streamed
but it was like watching paint dry. I can’t imagine spending
money or taking time out to attend a foul shooting contest. The
NCAA has to fix what it broke.

The worst officiating team in all my years watching this team.
people were leaving the game 10 minutes into the 2nd half
because of all the bad fouls being called by the refs.
With that being said. Any game plan this team had in place all
went out the window and it became a free for all. SB looked
totally lost on the court. But, you would have to be Ray Charles
not to see this coming. I feel as if SB peaked way too soon and
we are now going to lose going into the 2nd half of conference
       play..
UMBC game could be another dud.

I’m just going to leave this right here.
In 6 America East games this season, McKenzie has a total of 8
       points and 7 assists.
Since being praised by many on this Board after the Binghamton
game, Christie has a total of 0 points and 0 rebounds in 4
       games.

Ugly game to watch. The team had no flow- Vermont has much
better team chemistry- they moved the ball extremely well and we
were just chucking up horrible 3s for the most part. It's hard
for us to win when Cornish is that bad. I hate badmouthing our
players but there is a massive drop off from Cornish to
McKenzie. I don't know why Ochefu isn't getting more minutes
when Otchere is in foul trouble.
The biggest thing that concerns me is Olaniyi's dropoff this
year. Some of it is related to Latimer taking an immediately big
role but Elijah has not been as good as he was last year.
Hopefully he turns it around soon. This team is super young and
I knew there would be growing pains but we need to use February
       to round into form.
Good crowd though- still have a chance to get home court if we
take care of business the rest of the way. In my opinion,
finishing in the top 2 would be fine.

The school seems to be pimping the fact that D’Angelo Russell
was at the game, I don’t blame them. Hoping DLo can do some
       promotion
