Yeboah and Olaniyi are monsters when they get rolling. Both will
have some 30 point games this season during conference play.

Big Jeff has got to do a better job, no sugar coating it. In
Juco he was told to swat after every thing and on ball screens
to hit the guard and dive hard. Coach didn't care if he fouled
out long as he rejected 4 shots at the rim every night and
deterred 8 more attempts at the rim. (12 shot attempts with no
chance of going in). Boals wants him to use verticality more(had
a sequence at the end where he used it). And not to swat at
everything. Guys that can touch 12 feet when they jump don't
always have to swat. He hasn't totally grasp that concept yet
but he will. He's also been called for a good amount of moving
screens. Which go back to him being told to get out of a screen
quick as possible at the juco level. Refs call moving screens a
lot tighter at the D1 level across the board.He's got to
adjust.and he's willing to.
In the game against Holy Cross I seen some steps forward. Only
picking up 1 foul and rejecting 4 shots. No moving screens.
Boals protected him by taking him out after 1 foul as opposed to
after 2 from like the games before. By conference play with the
help of the staff and myself I think he'll have his foul issues
under wraps.
That's when we really want and need him out there 20-25 minutes
a night. And he should be able to give it consistently.

I'm really high on him, I am. Has enormous upside, and can't
remember the last time SBU had a big that could have such a huge
impact inside the paint defensively. You can tell that he's
raw, but has tremendous talent. Definitely a coaching project,
but if we can keep him on the floor for 20+ minutes per game, he
will be a force, no doubt.
Also, like the strides that The Chef has made since last year,
and really liked Boals' O/D switching with Chef/Garcia and
Otchere/Garcia, down the stretch.

I think we have already seen strides from him. I thought that he
got hit with a couple cheap ones early, but he was a key
presence as they went offense/defense with him and Garcia.

Otchere is going to be a beast for us down the road. I love how
he's playing personally. Even if he does get into foul trouble,
we have so much depth behind him I'm not too worried. Christie
will get there.

Love our defense/offense changes with Garcia at the Small ball
5. When his jumper is clicking he is a tough cover. Think he's
our 3rd best long range threat. Behind Lattimer and Yeboah.

This team has a lot of grit- this was not an easy win. The Holy
Cross team is actually pretty darn good so I can't blame them
losing. With a young team like this, there will be a period of
finding our rotation. This will be most important at the PG
position. Yeboah, Olaniyi, and Lattimer are absolute locks.
Cornish looks like he has earned a lot of playing time. Otchere
is showing progress but is still raw. I'd like to see more
Ochefu and Garcia is finally hitting his stride.
With Foreman coming in next year, he should have control of PG
for a while- he looks like a keeper.
Overall really like the overall direction of this program.

It’s my understanding that Foreman is more a shotmaker than
playmaker. Good news: We can use those too.
I’m interested to see what Ceesay brings to the table. Anyone
sense whether they plan on redshirting him or using up a year?

Yeah I use the term PG flexibly- he will fill in for a
graduating Cornish very nicely IMHO. He's built really well and
from the limited film I have seen he is very athletic.
