offerum absolutely killed his team with that late foul on
olaniyi. if he lets him drive, it kills too much clock.
btw we played in front of 4400 fans, which is about our arena
capacity.
garcia is a nice surprise. some of you guys have been talking
about it for a while but i needed to see to believe. he is a
lot like yeboah- multi-tooled. can drive, shoot, perimeter,
rebound, play physical, etc. these two can play four different
positions.
and VA Seawolf was that you shouting during the free throws???
mightve won us the game!

we knew from the preseason game theyd have trouble on the
boards:

also did anyone notice how many travelling calls GW got?
between that and charging, very costly.

btw very unimpressed with the webcast. at the beginning, the
announcer didnt know he was live and wanted to restart. the
graphics were sometimes lasting over the footage. sometimes the
camera was pointed in odd directions and shaking.
and then when they showed GW's schedule, they listed:
sienna
virgina
manhatten
anyway, nice win guys. somewhere, in nj, steve pikiell is
smiling...

Hi All,
New to the board here. Just wanted to share my thoughts from
last night's superb win:
- I thought the key to the comeback was Boals' switch to the
zone. Moor, Latimer and Otchere provide so much length which
helped to create some turnovers and easy buckets. I would like
to see them mix in the 2-3 more this year with our new
personnel.
- After a nervous start, Latimer was excellent offensively. Has
an excellent looking shot, and exudes so much potential. He has
the potential to be our best Freshman since Jameel.
- Olaniyi took over offensively in the second half, and was the
best player on the floor. He's at his best when he's attacking
the rim and slashing, and not settling for outside jumpers.
- McKenzie provided some big minutes with Cornish in foul
trouble. Really stabilized the offense at the end of the first
half and a majority of the second half.
- Impressive minutes off the bench from Garcia. Nice to see from
him.
- Overall, have to get better at the foul line, but a great team
win. They played their game after a worst-case-scenario type of
start. Impressive to see. Looking forward to the SC game.

Yep!! Taking full credit for those ;D ;D
The arena seats 5k and it was maybe half full for most of the
second half. It being election night in DC, I'd peg attendance
at roughly 3,000 or so. Place felt louder than that though.

Nooooo it didn't!! So spelled just like that? Shameful!
Did the Washington Post even cover the game? Do they not have a
GW beat guy? I can't find anything on it. I know papers are
slimming down but still, geesh. Maybe they'll do a day-later
story.
The play-by-play guy was obsessed with Toro inching toward and
finally getting a double-double. He started mentioning it when
he was at like 8 and 6, and mentioned it every time he got a
rebound after that.
Here's the student paper's story:
HTML https://www.gwhatchet.com/2018/11/07/mens-basketball-starts-on-a-high-drops-season-opener-in-overtime-loss/.<br
/>I imagine most of the story being written before the game was
over and her angrily having to tear the whole thing down when
the game swung.
Chair, I thought I was going to hit my prediction on the nose
for a second there late but GW just wilted. And you're right,
between the Offurum foul and the five-second call, that is a
HORRIBLE five-second stretch for them. How about Elijah getting
up two shots at the end to tie it? Just plain GUTS.
I'll be interested to see if we're still hung over against South
Carolina. I think any one of us would have been satisfied with a
split of these first two games, and that includes the team. To
win in this fashion and to have to rally three days later to
challenge a Power 5 team ... that'll be tough. Preview to come
nevertheless!!
