So... it's been a while since I last read a comment asking for
Coach P to be fired... Have people changed their mind about him
here?
A win against against a team ranked #230 (RPI) doesn't change
things. If they make the playoffs I'd keep him on a year-to-year
contract. If they don't make it this year, I'd look for new
leadership.
I share this sentiment as well. I can nitpick all the ways we're
going to get blown up come conference play, but I'd rather enjoy
the W heading into CAA play. A postseason appearance would be
enough for me to extend him a year I'd say. The schedule is very
hard this year and to do that would mean winning a few big games
against good competition. Nova, Towson, Rhode Island, JMU,
Delaware... all tough opponents this year. 8-3 makes us a lock
for the playoffs. At 7-4 we'd be sweating it out on selection
Sunday and it would depend on who we beat.
I think everybody on this forum knows all too well how we feel
about the HC position. SB has a very good team again this year
outside of our starting QB. Same story year after year. I find
it stunning SB cant find a good QB who wants an amazing
education and a diploma that can take him to the top of the
world. Oh, and yes. Someone who can throw an accurate ball and
run with his feet.
Carbone time to shine was this Saturday. He had many
opportunities to run up the score with his arm and show us he
can move the ball effectively. 145 passing yards and 1 touchdown
is not something you want to hang your hat on against a team
that could quite possibly win only one or two games this season.
Tyque Fields appears to be the next man up next season when
Carbone graduates. Does he have what it takes to get SB out of
that rut they have been in for as long as I can remember?? I
dont know. We havent seen enough of Fields behind the center to
say yes.
The issue is that Priore was himself a running back in his
playing days, and as a result has a strong bias for the ground
game. That affects his play calling, and good QB prospects may
discount coming to SB if they think the ground game is king
here.

How does Fields qo through high school and parts of college
without any deception in his game? Before he throws, it’s a
direct stare at option 1 and only option 1 - he has an abundance
of INTs in his future. What the hell do these coaches actually
teach?

Lax. I see that as well. I honestly believe the only way this
school finds a talented, dual option QB is if coach P finds
another div3 job somewhere in Maine.

BINGO!!!!! Please share that bit of information to SH. I would
do it myself buy it would be a conflict of interest for me and
not appropriate. I did tell him how I felt about not letting us
ticket holders back into the stadium if we leave at the half..

There's certainly no shortage of opinions when it comes to SBU's
QB situation, and it's future. ::) ::) ::)  But, I'll just weigh
in by saying that you should all keep your eyes on Josh Zamot.
I truly believe that this kid is the real deal and bodes well
for the Seawolves in the near future. And, yes Hammer, he is a
bona fide DUAL THREAT!!

Very true. On the flipside though that should in theory lead to
stronger O-line prospects coming to SBU as well. We get good
offensive linemen, but I don't think they're as big as they once
were.
There's something to be said for being a run first program and
going against the grain of what everyone else is doing. There's
value there, but we need balance. Big time programs like
Stanford and Wisconsin have built their teams around the
offensive line and the run game to great success. The difference
there is that they've had good to great play from their
quarterbacks to provide balance to the offense. SBU has a
problem developing QB talent.

Listen people. I've been watching Zamot since High School as
well. But my issue is. Will coach P allow him to be more of a
pocket passer or continue the same old, rum up the gut
team..Coach P needs to go and take his QB coach with him. Start
fresh and bring in a new style of play calling. Something this
team hasn't seen in years, or never saw.

The starting O-line avg weight is 310 and the 2nd team avg 320.
I would say that is plenty big enough.
