wanted to say again that im very excited about otchere. 6'11''
240 is large, considering the size he moves well. while a touch
lighter than warney, 3 extra inches and the intensity to match.
i'd like to see him develop the left hand in the offensive
paint.
one thing we dont lack this year is size! that could help when
we play P5 teams who naturally are bigger than AE schools.
imagine christie, otchere, yeboah, olaniyi, and moor on the
court.

Too bad we only play one such team this year :-\ I really wish
we had a bunch of those games like we did last year.

Remember this team is young . Let them develop this year then
schedule the Michigans , and UConns of the world next season .
We might win a few of them .

Yeboah and Olaniyi are the only certainties in the starting
lineup in my eyes. McKenzie isn’t quite there but I think he
showed enough last year to get the PG job at least to start the
year. He has his warts but I love the steady hand. Cornish is a
little erratic for me and I think most of you would agree. I
don't know enough about Latimer or Ceesay in that role.
My sense is that we won't go with Otchere and Ochefu in the
starting five, but rather somebody like Garcia with Yeboah in
the frontcourt. He has the experience and I think enough size to
rebound in the AE. If you put both bigs on the floor with
MacKenzie, then you’re really leaving it to Yeboah and Olaniyi
to score.
If I had to guess: McKenzie, Olaniyi, Yeboah, Garcia, Ochefu.
But that will surely change.

i agree you need mack out there to distribute and run point, but
isnt the outside shooter we've had in the past at the 1.
agreed that olaniyi and yeboah command 30min or over. we've got
a lot of question marks at guard and so maybe it's by committee.
i hear good things about ceesay and latimer but again- unproven
at this point.
i havent seen enough garcia so i really cant say where he'll fit
in, as a swing. more likely a 3 to me, possibly a 4 if we play
small.
with that said, i dont see why you keep all the height on the
bench- why not have christie, ochefu, or otchere on the floor-
for presence, blocks, rebounds, stretching the floor, putbacks,
etc.
also, i keep thinking we may be like the last two years where we
run nearly two full lines. not a bad thing. with this depth,
we should try to run teams into the ground, especially teams
that like to play 7-8 players (i said this last season).

I have no idea what these guys look like at this point, but I'm
guessing that any 7-footer who comes to the America East is a
project, so probably limited minutes for Christie. I mean, are
we sure he's better than Alonzo Campbell? I could see Ochefu and
Otchere splitting the game, with Christie giving them a breather
when needed. Again, just speculation.

Alonzo Campbell was not given a chance to excel. Petras was
always the golden boy. What little we saw of Campbell he clearly
was the better rim protector than Petras. He was just raw, as
any 7' would be in the AE.
Look at Campbell numbers. His numbers are better all around...

Junior College Ball is the equivalent of mediocre high school
ball. Those are horrible stats! Less than a block a game! They
didn’t even play the varsity team at Bacone College, but their
JV team! Raw meaning he’ll never even be mediocre.

If you think MacKenzie should be the starting PG then you’re
saying Stony Brook won’t be the AE Champ! It’s amazing how far
our expectations have been lowered for the PG position. I have
no faith in the 21 year old sophomore who doesn’t have the speed
or shooting, which I guess can only get better. He should only
be playing at most, 8 minutes a game! Wouldn’t be surprised if
he’s playing somewhere else next season. I was right about
Campbell and Almonacy leaving over the last couple of years.

Campbell and Almonacy barely saw the floor, Almonacy in part
because he was behind McKenzie. McKenzie started 17 games as a
freshmen and, given the foot/ankle surgery he underwent in the
offseason, was presumably playing through an injury last year.
He doesn't have a very high ceiling, but he'll be surrounded by
guys that do. Granted, he needs to be able to hit open threes,
but that's definitely an area that you can improve in. If he can
get to be a decent 3 point shooter, I think he's a really solid
option at pg.
