Seawolves win 2019 AE title

Good day to everyone, I hope everyone is in the best of
spirits. As the basketball season is on the herizon,I'm going to
get right to it and speak it into existence. We have a real
chance to win the conference this year. The fan base and the
community should really be excited for this years squad and
rally behind it.
Olaniyi is working his tail off and should make a big jump
(Scary)
Yeboah will be in the race for player of the year
Lattimer is shooting the leather off the ball
Cornish improved physically and in his approach playing
alongside pro's this summer on the Bahamian national team.
Otchere's getting better offensively day by day. We know what
his defense will be.
Otchere in the back allows Olaniyi and Cornish to hound guys
even more on the perimeter.
Not many guards in the AE have the shake and back and wiggle to
break free of those kind of guys. Lyles had a hard time with
Olaniyi defending him last year. Who has more shake and bake in
the AE this year than him???
And if you do shake free of him or Cornish, you have to finish
over a guy who can get up to 12 feet.
All of the returners improved over the summer!
Big Alex Christie has made changes to his body working with
Coach Greene like you wouldn't believe. He'll be a monster down
the road and very formidable this season.
Speaking of Coach Greene, in the northeast region I'd put his
Strength and conditioning work up there with any school
including Villanova, Cuse,Seton Hall. He's that good.
The Media may not have us pegged as favorites but what do they
know?
Wait til the wheels get turning, we will be rocking and rolling.
2019 Champs!

i love the enthusiasm!
of course, i am always a bit cautious of hype. some of the guys
are unproven. but i have high hopes.
been trying to read the AE forums to prepare for november but
there's a lot on there. one thing i do know is that i cant
stand ualbany.

I love the potential of this group. This is without seeing the
freshman class, but you can't help but feel like there's a much
higher ceiling than what you saw with the 2018 class. Sturdy,
Sekunda, Petras, Saintel – they all kind of were who they were
and never made any major, major strides from year one to four.
But to return an all-conference guy and the AE ROY? And to back
them with what's being talked up as a game-changing recruiting
class? Now we're talking.
I wonder if Yeboah can take that next step and be a 18-20 guy.
Plus, the seniors are gone, so this is his team without
question.
I'm most eager to see what Chef and Otchere look like this year.
Imagine Chef being a 12 and 8 kind of guy and Otchere a true rim
protector. That would make us awfully tough.
I don't think it's deniable that this is Hartford's conference
to lose – just too much firepower and experience – but I give us
a chance.

The only one in the group that I would say that actually
improved was Saintel, he was noticeably bigger and played hard.
Petras should not be in D1, and Sturdy and Sekunda were actually
worse from their sophomore years. Sekunda was not the same
after he got hurt. Sturdivant thought he was a 3 point/perimeter
shooter and played a completely different game then he did 2
years ago backing up Warney.

Looking forward to the season. Anyone want to take a guess at
the starting five?
Otchere
Olinayi
Yeboah
Lassiter
Mackenzie
With Ochefu and Cornish being the first guys off the bench.
Not sure about Long, Garcia, Christie, Ceesay or Moor, but if I
had to guess, I'd say a healthy a Garcia could contribute off
the bench with scoring.

I don't mind last year, I really don't. You're going to have
years like that and there were still some great moments last
year (winning @Rutgers, ending Albany's season). This is the
year we need to return to the AE title game I think. There's no
reason we can't always be a top 2-3 team in this conference and
be on the doorstep of the NCAA tournament.

I really hope Ochefu improved in the off season. He has the NBA
body but doesn't know how to us it. Maybe this year he makes
that psychological switch.

Love this post!
I am really excited to see this recruiting class. I think
Latimer is going to be a stud in this conference. Otchere IMHO
has a chance to be DPOY- guy is a phenomenal athlete. Can't
really opine too much on the others. I think by definition this
team will be better given our markedly better depth compared to
last year. Unfortunately, Sekunda and Sturdivant both regressed
big time which hurt us significantly. I was never a big Petras
guy because his game was so limited- I can imagine that Alex
Christie will be a net improvement by default. If Ochefu starts
putting it together this team could have a frontcourt no other
team in this conference can roll with.
My Starting 5:
G- Latimer
G- Olaniyi
F- Yeboah
F- Ochefu
C- Otchere
That is an athletic as heck lineup.

My starting five
McKenzie
Olaniyi
Moor
Yeboah
Otchere
I thought the offensive was more consistent with McKenzie
running the point. He was only recently cleared for basketball
activity though after a post-season surgery. McKenzie and
Cornish is probably the most interesting position battle to
watch. I really think both are going to be much improved with a
years experience under their belt.
I'm actually pretty high on Jules Moor now. He's flown under the
radar but I think he's a baller. I'm hoping for a big freshmen
year from him.
I'm also interested in seeing how Garcia develops with a full
offseason of basketball. He's was kind of thrown to fire last
year after being cleared for basketball for the first time in
two years. I'm hoping he can develop into one of the undersized
fours that tends to do so well in the AE e.g. Tommy Brenton,
Anthony Lamb etc.

love the comment on undersized fours in the AE.
also, i like that everyone's starting 5 is different. it means
we have depth. or perhaps that we are too middle heavy!
