6-6/220 jr F Devonte Campbell 6.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg, .802 FT%
Quick injury note: Brown said that Charles is "highly, highly
questionable" for this game due to an MCL sprain. It would be a
tough break for UA. He had 20 points in 17 minutes in the game
at their place, and 14 and 7 here.
Charles didn't play against Binghamton, but fifth-year senior
Alex Foster more than held his own, going for 15 and 10. Foster
played two seasons at Texas Tech, another at Bradley, before
ending up at UA for his final season. He hadn't really produced
much at all—this year or throughout his career—but he looked the
part yesterday. At the very least, he's a physical presence
inside who can guard the rim. Guy is 23 1/2 years old.
As is often the case with our games with Albany, I'm worried
about how we fare on the glass, as well as whether our scorers
can stay out of foul trouble. In particular, we need Akwasi in
this game. He scored a season-low five points before fouling out
in the UA game here, playing only 20 minutes, and he had just
six points in 16 minutes in the first meeting. Put him on a
non-scorer - maybe Campbell - and take your chances with the
rest. We need his O.
And Brown has to know, just like we do, that Yeboah makes this
team go. If he's off, or off the floor, odds are really stacked
against us. If we get 30-35 minutes from Akwasi, they improve
exponentially. It can't just be him though. I want to see three
double-digit scorers. I haven't heard anything on UC yet
(fingers crossed), but even if he plays, at what percent is he?
Can Junior give us one of his A efforts? Can Sekunda knock a few
down from deep? Ochefu and Petras a few putbacks or shots over
Stire/Foster down low?
I'm looking forward to seeing Olaniyi lock up with Cremo. I like
that matchup for us. Elijah's done a nice job of not biting on
fakes, which we've seen from Cremo before. Elijah is so easy to
like – plays hard on both ends of the floor, takes it in the
teeth of the defense, gets on the glass. He's easily my favorite
player. He and Ceesay next year ought to be fun to watch.
If UC doesn't play and we have a lead late, which ballhandler is
making those big free throws at the end? In the last four games,
we're 65 for 82, or 79.3 percent from the line. Please please
carry over to this one.
Go SBU.

Wow, Charles out would be a big blow to them. Of course, UC
being out would be equally bad for us.

My rational brain simply feels like UA (as usual when it counts)
will take care of business. Probably not pretty, but they will
get the ball inside, and rebound, and hit FTs down the stretch
and come away with a solid 8-12 pt win.
But I'll watch, and we'll see.

After all those years of UA screwing us over come tournament
time, it's time for some payback! Win this and it'll be a nice
way to cap off the season despite how bad it's been. I don't
care if we get blown out by Vermont in rd2. Just sent Albany
home!!

Wondering if UA's Nichols going from 1st Team last year to No
Team this year (other than all-academic, which is nothing to
sneeze at) is going to light a fire in him...which could be very
bad for SBU and maybe the rest of the conference.
