Only thing working against your prediction, Hammer, is that this
is still the AE, and right now it continues to look like a
pretty big tangle of teams from 2-6 and three truly horrible
teams at the bottom (yes, that SBU squeaked by in two cases so
far). UA seems to be trending up, but (despite SBU's loss today)
I don't see much separation among the other "contenders."
SBU loses the next one to UML, however, and you'll have me in
       your camp...
       [/quote]
While anything could happen come March, I'm inclined to agree
with Hammertime. This is a lost season for SBU basketball. In
years past, we'd beat the teams at the bottom and at least
compete with the top teams in the AE, usually Albany or Vermont.
This year we look lost against everyone. I'm not hopeful.
Especially since it's fairly likely we don't get a home game in
       the AE tournament at all.

Missed the game today, but were we really 10-24 from the FT
line, in a 2-pt loss? Honestly, I think I could do that lefty
and I’m right-handed. Inexcusable at this level.

Didn't catch the game fortunately- this team is not very
talented. Boals needs to tweak the rotation because the current
formula isn't working. Sekunda played 31 minutes and this was
his stat line: 2 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists on 0/2 shooting.
He's not that good of a defensive player to justify 31 minutes
of playing time. He should be taking way more shots than that.
The FT shooting at the end of the game looked awful. Bottom line
this team can't win when Yeboah has an off night and that's a
big deal. This UNH team is better than their record indicates
but this type of performance is disappointing.
There is a ton of parity in the conference fortunately so they
will probably finish near .500. This was basically the team we
all expected last year to show up but the leadership of Nyama
and Woodhouse prevented us from playing like this.

yes, we were that bad at the stripe. i think UNH is a good
rebound team but they didnt even beat us there by much. we
just shot poorly. we usually do.
also we didnt take care of the ball. UNH gave us a few
opportunities at the end to win it, and we squandered all of
       them.
at this point, i hope im wrong, but id say first round and out.
       no post season.
look at UA and Vermont, they just blew up two conference teams
       by 30. why think otherwise?

Every opportunity to snatch that game, and we did everything we
could to lose it. The charging call on Cornish was borderline,
but a turnover on the baseline, another turnover on an entry
pass to Yeboah, bricked free throws left and right ... just a
shame because we did a good job shutting down Leissner and
pulling ahead in the second half.
It should be noted that our starting "center" has 13 rebounds in
six conference games, and his classmate whose calling card is
his three-point marksmanship is averaging just 4 points a night
in that span too. Not good.

i agree. is it that hard to 1) get bigs into the AE and 2) have
them play the position they were brought in for?
put warney aside because he is clearly exceptional. when was
the last big we had that played his position? mcallister?
i just dont get it but then again im not a coach. it's like we
       have GGGGF instead of 12345.

oh also i throw in my usual- we missed 14 longballs (low for
us!). think if we hit just ONE of those from a higher % shot,
       we'd have tied the game???

I expect our center to be 6-8 pretty much. Any big with any
ability isn't going to seek a position in the AE. But in this
league, 6-8 is fine. Dallis Joyner – the perfect AE big. It's
just that you'd hope to get more production and consistency out
of your upperclassmen at this point, and with Ty giving us very
little inside anymore, that leaves a gaping hole offensively,
and there's no rim protection defensively either. Chef is not
due for 30 minutes a night, but I'd like to see him get 12-15.

I think the team is talented, but the basketball iq and team
chemistry just isn't there. I still think there's a chance that
things will click for the team, and they'll be dangerous in the
       conference tournament.

agreed on both of the above. the time has passed for "figuring
out the lineup". its conference time.
if our big wont play in the paint, then seat him. id rather
have ochefu or even petras in there and give us some presence in
the paint, on both sides of the ball. otherwise, VT/UA/NH are
going to easily beat us by packing it in and letting us miss
       threes for 40min.
