Stony Brook returns home to play the FDU Knights and a chance
for a win after the close loss at Eastern Illinois. Already half
way through the OOC season.
College Football is over. time for basketball!!

If we don't win here, especially after FDU turfed an 81-62 gem
against Albany....there are officially issues.
Up to now, I think we're just not well built from a chemistry
aspect. That generally justifies our late season runs of the
past. Gotta work a rhythm.

You guys will win this game. FDU is not a very good team,
although they do have some talent. You need some momentum
heading into the games against BC and Rutgers, especially after
BU put a stomping on BU yesterday!

Stony Brook is struggling a lot. But this is a home game. They
have to pull this one off. If they don't win here then we might
not win again until we face Rider

There's some value to being optimistic, but the "late season
chemistry" argument doesn't cut it. The only reason the team has
had late season chemistry is because it plays in an
bottom-dwelling conference...currently #31 out of 33 (Sagarin).
It's easy to have late season success when those are the late
season games you're playing. The team got to go to Europe
pre-season, supposedly to develop chemistry. And it's not like
the team is starting only freshmen and sophomores. I know
Pikiell is a likeable coach who comes from good basketball
stock, but the success expected for an attractive, major
university with 25,000 students just hasn't happened...and it's
far more than a "chemistry" issue. I'd like to be wrong.

I totally agree with you ry1. Chemistry shouldn't be a problem
with a team that for the most part has played together in the
previous years with few changes. Only Chris Martin graduated
last year meaning that this team is not composed of new players.
The staff and the team surely need to work something out before
its too late. The expectations were high this year, and this
team has not accomplished much yet.
I hope we can see a change in direction soon!

Roger that. And failing all else, there's the post-season glow
from football!

Agreed, but the one missing player from last year did the one
thing that no one else on the current roster can do: create
shots/opportunities for others!!! Look at this last game, 5 FT
opportunities! It's not chemistry, it's lack of good 3-point
shooting/lack of easy baskets. Bracey can help that, but most
importantly, Jackson/Coley must step up. Less turnovers, and
more smart decisions. Until the guard play improves, SB will
struggle....

I think the team will be fine. We've played some good teams on
the road. We will find our groove after a couple home games.

Quick, agree w you on most points but not so relative to the
missing player from last year. Was he an effective scorer...yes.
Did the offense improve once he returned from injury...yes. Did
he penetrate and get to the rim...yes. Did he create
shots/opportunities for others...no freaking way. Once the ball
got in his hands it rarely left.
