Don’t worry, several people on this Board think McKenzie will be
good and possibly ROY candidate in the AEC! Here are his total
points after the last 4 mediocre teams in DI:
LIU - 0 points
St. Francis 0 points
Bucknell - 5 points
Brown - 2 points
I rest my case!

I didnt watch the game, but checking the box score.. I see
Petras had a banner night playing 20 minutes. He did have 5
rebound. That is a plus... Ochefu played for only 3 minutes
again and had 4 points. .I hate to say it but this team is
totaled confused this season and that falls on the coaches... If
they dont get a handle on this team now come conference time
this team is going to finish in 8th place
Ochefu also had 2 turnovers and 2 fouls in only 3 minutes on the
floor. If you watched the game, you'd see he struggled last
night. Still love his upside, but he has some work to do and
Petras should see the majority of back up minutes.

Small sample size to date and also blatantly obvious, but this
team is certainly different from pretty much all SBU teams in
recent memory in that there doesn't seem to be a floor leader or
"that guy" out there. A good amount of talent and athletes,
glimmers of potential, a range of 8-12 pt guys every night but
when the game comes down to the wire who is the guy leading the
charge or going to take the last shot (or at least draw the
defense)?
And maybe that's okay and could be a strength? It worked against
St Francis, but on the road with a sleepy crowd not so much. I
guess more than anything it just seems to be something very
different with this team. That and certainly a lot of other
areas to improve.
Funny, yesterday afternoon I read that "AE roundup" article
posted elsewhere with SBU listed 3rd in the current "power
rankings" behind UVM and UA and I thought, "Yeah, after the
spirited St Francis win maybe this team can make things
difficult for those front-runners this year." Then, pffffttttt,
last night all the air went out for me...

Yeah. Like i said i didnt watch the game and didnt see Ochefu
fouls in the stats. I was really hopeful Chef would be an
instant impact on this team his freshman year. He looked like a
high major player in high school, if you watch his games.. I
suppose this why he was overlooked by the big boys.. Lets just
hope he can learn a ton in his freshman year and comes out on
fire next year and beyond!!

The team just doesn't seem to be settled into roles at all yet,
and I don't think the coaches know what roles they want for the
guys yet either.

I agree with everything you said. But must ad one thing. Unlike
previous years where we relied on one impact player, Warney,
Brenton, Woodhouse. This team has multiple players who can score
20 points with no problems.. The issue is. We dont have that one
Captain, leader who sets up the floor and takes control of the
team. Boals can only do so much on the sidelines in a suit!!..
This is why I was so hyped on Ochefu.. I really thought he was a
leader out of the gate considering his pedigree, his background
and academy he played for.. I guess I was asking too much from
the kid out of the gate..

Anybody out there have any insight into whether or not Andrew
Garcia will play at all this year? When I spoke to him at the
Meet-the-Team event, he seemed tentative about when he might be
able to return.
Is it possible for him to get a second medical redshirt season?
I know we had a couple of 6-year seniors in football (Jackson,
Bedell), but I'm not sure NCAA BB rules are the same. From
everything I've heard he should be a real contributor if he ever
fully recovers from his leg injury.

A second medical redshirt season should be a possibility.
Strength and conditioning coach Greene posted a video of Garcia
doing squats last week so he's at least cleared for that.
Hopefully we see him soon, but at this point it's a been a while
since hes played competitive basketball.

from what i remembered (as a guy who is lucky he is walking ;D)
the general rule is 5 years to expend 4. unless you can prove
medical hardship waiver or something like that.
also remember the N$AA is motivated by the greenback.

I don't understand what you're doing here. Are you actively
rooting against this kid? These five games are also the five
games since Cornish has come back and his role has been
diminished since. I still think he's going to be a fine player
and has a shot at the all rookie team.
Why is he still starting? This kid has done nothing to warrant
a spot in the starting lineup!

Totally agree with you! The team is becoming more athletic, but
definitely not as smart as previous teams.
