I was at the game- it was a spirited crowd for sure. People out
in LI like watching good football and wins like this set us up
well for the future. I've been going to SBU football games since
2013 and it gets better year by year. I more or less have given
up on students- if the football team continues to be fun to
       watch, we will do well.
Remember even schools like Michigan State have issues getting
students to the game. The growth of the program hinges on
building the community attendance. We have so many people in
Long Island that will hopefully hear about the program. The team
is a lot of fun and has come so far from last year.
I'm gladly ponying up to continue supporting the department.

When I was a student, the student section by the South endzone
would be packed for the big games. This was the 2011-2013 time
frame. We can get that back. There's no reason we could fill the
student section playing Big South teams, but can't when we're
playing stronger schools in a stronger, more regional
conference. Expect attendance to jump next year if we're good.
Students had forgotten about the program after going 5-6 for so
many years. Students in the class of 2017 never got to see an
SBU team win more than five games, that will cause student
       apathy.
Our brand of football is also very boring and predictable. It's
a lot easier to get fans and certain recruits when you run an up
tempo air raid system like what you see in the Big 12 compared
to what you see here. Coach P does what he does though and we
       can't expect that to change.
Student support will rise as we improve, but if we really want
attendance to explode, we're going to need to get LI as a whole
on board. Branding ourselves as Long Island's team I believe was
helping for a while. I think we need to get back to that. It'll
       help us a lot.

Students will come when you make it an atmosphere that is
worthwhile. Back in 2011 when I was a student there was much
better student attendance. Even for the Albany first round more
students showed up. I had friend back in 2012 that returned from
Thanksgiving early just go to the game! Right now SBU targets
the family... and that's what they get. They don't target the
current students at all. For that you have to build a tailgating
experience that lets them let loose so they can enjoy Saturdays
       and then attend the game.

Did they say anything of note? I thought there were some
chemistry and communication issues with the receivers yesterday.
With Bolden out, I think it threw off some of the timing in the
passing game. I almost think the Lehigh game might be a blessing
in disguise as it gave Carbone, Jackson, Trent, and Washington
and extra game to get on the same page. That said, hopefully
       Bolden is back on Saturday.

I agree completely. The athletic department/university needs to
wake up to this reality. I wouldn't rule out alcohol sales at
future games if they want to make the gameday experience more
fun and are serious a bout it. It's been a major revenue boon to
       schools that have done it.

It definitely did and in hindsight I'm actually glad we got that
game. If we don't and we get a bye, it's possible we get a hot
team like a Kennesaw St. that kicks us in the teeth and
surprises us. Lehigh was the weakest team in the field and was
the perfect tune up game for us. No injuries yesterday either
which is amazing. What more could you ask for really? Now on to
       JMU!
       The 2017 CAA Championship Game.

SBUFAN... Basically, the announcers were talking about Carbone
lack of accuracy on the long ball .. Also, talked about how
coach P totally blew that possession towards the end of the
first half because of not calling a time out with 35 seconds on
the clock and 13 seconds on the clock, forcing Carbone to
attempt another Hail Mary pass that went about 20 yards. into
       the ground..
I personally was screaming down the field at coach P to call a
time out.. Apparently he didnt listen..lol

As a lehigh fan was impressed by your team and stony brooks
facilities . As far as the game goes I knew lehigh was in for an
uphill battle . Lehigh held its own in the first half , I knew
stony brooks depth would show up the longer the game went on .
The patriot league does not have the depth of the caa . Kids
can’t red shirt , can’t take transfers it effects the team you
put on the field . I’ll be rooting for stony brook classy fans
       and a classy team !

It's not easy being in the PL (with the higher standards) and
having to compete nationally. But even then, Lehigh has a proud
history. Thanks for coming out to LI and glad you had a good
time. I hope these teams play again sooner than later.

I saw that when I was was walking into the basketball game
yeasterday, and when leaving and Oceanside was playing
lindenhurst ..I dont get it. Sooner or later I'll figure why
this is the case... WE have so many speculating to why there are
so few fans going to the game, but I am not hooked on any of
       them...
