What a total collapse! We had this game. Up 9, had a steal,
gave it back, they hit a 3, and all downhill from there. Gritty
effort, but this is not horseshoes; they should have won the
game, leading most of the way.
Memo to Coach Boals: If the offense is going to run through
Sturdivant behind the arc, then you will be lucky to finish 6th
in the conference. STOP with the 3's; he's not a 3-point
shooter; 5-17 in 2 games, that's lots of wasted possessions.
The ball needs to go through your best player, Yeboah. Not
       enough touches for him tonight.

Really?? How could you say that.. Sturdivant and McKenzie played
well against Maryland. SB couldnt stop Adams, enough said!!

       Hammer is hammered!
We are talking about the UConn game with the following stats:
       Sturdivant 4-14
       McKenzie 3-13

The bottom line is that UConn had a next-level talent in Adams
who had another gear, and we didn’t. The pick and roll killed
us, and they only took six threes in the second half. We also
lack players (like Adams) who can create their own shots and
convert in traffic. The missed free throws hurt too.
Sekunda with no attempts in the second half.
       Lucas Woodhouse as a freshman: .399 FG%, .274 3-pt FG%. Here’s
to McKenzie following a similar career arc. I like the floaters
in the paint; hopefully he finds his range.
Good minutes again from the bench - Almonacy, Petras, Olaniyi,
Sekunda. I worried when they were all on the floor but UConn
       beat our ones.
Ty’s threes were big, but a lot that I didn’t like. Very
       frustrating.

Sturdivant tried to rebuild his game after a rough end to the
season last year and I give him a lot of credit for that- he
just wasn't doing much as a pure post-up player. Adding that
long range J is big to his game. However, making that a crux of
our team offense is a mistake. We have so many better 3PT
shooters on the team that I rather take the bulk of the 3s.
Again, nothing wrong with taking a few threes to keep the big
men honest but we won't win many games when he shoots SEVEN
threes. His FT shooting needs to improve.
Again, still happy with the team. McKenzie will get better.
Yeboah needs more touches but the future is bright. We haven't
even seen Ochefu with legit playing time yet. When he gets going
we will have more of a post-game. Just gotta find a good
       rotation by conference play time.
At least the girls laid the smack down on Hofstra.

I was really impressed with McKenzie. That was his second
college game and they were 2 minutes away from beating UCONN. He
was running the offense, getting in the lane, and beating their
press. I wish he had finished better at the rim and hit some of
those threes, but I was impressed.

I like what I have seen from Mackenzie as a true freshman
although I'm hoping that Cornish could provide some perimeter
       scoring.
Am I wrong in thinking/hoping that Garcia is going to be an
       impact player?

Lots to feel good about for the first 2/3 of the game, and lots
to learn from the last 1/3. In general and especially with
Adams, UConn simply has players SBU doesn't have. Good for SBU
to make a game of it until the last few minutes. End of the day
AE is still a conference where really only 3 playoff games
matter, so here's to SBU learning a few lessons and getting
       better toward March.

I think we took too many 3's in general, not just Sturdivant. I
recall several times during the game when we were up 2-3
possessions and kept taking the three rather than try to keep it
       down low for a 2.

It was heart breaking sure but also full of hope. Players are
growing and learning. But let’s not forget that this is Boals
only second year as HC. He is also growing and learning as a HC.
I think we will again surprise people during conference
       schedule.

31 great minutes of basketball and then everything fell apart.
ugh. I was so excited and talking smack about the team to my
fiancee. Got embarrassed at the end. LOL.
I'm still hoping to see Stony Brook beat Connecticut during my
       lifetime
