By the way those attendance figures probably include the ICE
BOWL against Coastal Carolina. So if it were sunny and say
60 degrees - those numbers may go over 40k for the season. Not
bad at all.

Yes I did include the Ice Bowl against CC but so did I include
the 1st round of the playoff which is not part of the regular
season so it sort of balances out...

Consensus on AEC and CAA board is that SBU is one of the big
names mentioned to take Georgia State's place. Fiore is already
apparently due to meet with CAA Commish Yeager this summer about
FB membership.
Very likely to see some change in the CAA as a result of this.

Stony Brook really is a great fit for the CAA. Our sports of
emphasis match up well (football, basketball, lacrosse,
baseball) and all of those are programs look about ready for
that level of play. We're not a home run for them; None of our
teams would increase the CAA's profile. But we have a lot of
upside and fit pretty well, better than some of their existing
members.

I have a question to those that know better about this current
situation.
Is it likely that SB makes an all-sport move or solely football?

I ask the question because I would prefer basketball and other
sports to stay in the AE for now. We going to have a hard time
competing in Basketball. We haven't made it to the NCAA yet and
just looking at AE-5 that left the conference years ago it would
be sad if we go down the same path. With that said, if we move
in to the CAA all-sport 2013-14 we would have the Arena ready I
believe...

Alot of talk on many boards about this . Hofstra also on
the CAA boards sees us as a likely replacement for Georgia
State. They see us as an all sport member which is what the CAA
wants. Remember Charlotte wanted in for their new football
program and were turned away. We fit the footprint with our
lax programs and of course football. I agree basketball must
get stronger and our incoming class should help. Maybe football
in 2013 and the rest of our programs in 2014 ? Interesting
times ahead . Just glad we are really prepared and our
facilities including the basketball arena hopefully will be
done.

I'd rather go all sports. Yes, there would likely be a
transition period although maybe not as long as some might think
seeing as a lot of our roster next year will have also been
recruiting by CAA-level mid majors. But still, I'd rather make
the NCAA's with a chance to win some games.

I'm sure our AD will sell the whole package. Football/lax
/basketball on the rise and solid baseball and softball teams.
New arena almost a reality will help alot also.
