Maryland is stacked- those guys are massive. 2nd half was a lot
better than the 1st obviously. Justin Jackson is ridiculous- his
wingspan is ridiculous. Huerter is also a really solid player.
Random thoughts after being at the game about our guys:
       1. McKenzie looks like a keeper- he handled the ball a lot and
only had 1 turnover. The sad thing is he was the incoming
freshman that was hyped the least and he may be the most I'm
most excited about now. He's got a little Woodhouse in him-
really handled himself well in his first game. I think he's
going to be really good in the AE.
       2. Sturdivant- I'm not sure what his role will be this year. I
think occasional 3s will be OK from him but 10 3s from him is
not ideal. He did not rebound at all during this game. Also the
7 turnovers are inexcusable if we want to win big games this
year. I think in an ideal situation he's a supporting player on
this team if they are doing well, not a guy taking 18 shots in a
game. I'm happy he rediscovered his game after disappearing at
the end of the year in 2016 but this role needs to be better
       defined.
       3. Yeboah- best player on the team, he's gonna be a stud this
year. He held his own against UMD today.
       4. Other thoughts- Olaniyi is athletic and raw but has a lot of
talent. Didn't see a lot of Corry Long. Left before Ochefu got
into the game- not sure why he didn't get more playing time.
Almonacy looked like he's come a long way since last year.
Petras looks about the same overall. Iroegbu looks more
composed. Saintel played a solid game with the exception of the
foul trouble- he missed on some easy finishes at the hoop.
Overall, not a bad game. Fun opportunity to see the new guys on
the squad. Got to schmooze with Sean Heilbron for a bit too.

Unreal. I’m glad he’s worked on his jumper, but I can’t imagine
it all of a sudden becoming his strong suit.
       >
       > A nice cameo by Ochefu late. He had a nice finish with his
left, a rebound and changed a shot. I️ thought we’d see
him earlier but I’m glad they snuck him in.

       > Akwasi looked like a guy who played at a high level in the
offseason. He didn’t seem afraid of all that length on defense.
I thought he was still a 12-15 guy, but maaaaybe he can get up
       to 16 or 18.
       >
       > We cut it to 69-57 and Turgeon called timeout. And then three
QUICK buckets from the Terps starting five. It was impressive.
That made it clear that they could step on the gas if they
wanted to, but spread the minutes around.

were on the floor - Almonacy, Long, Petras, Sekunda. I’m curious
how Long develops. Not really a 1 or a 2.

Just got home, and a couple of quick points: Jackson and
Collins Jr are terrific players for the Terps, and both could be
pro prospects moving forward. We looked like boys amongst men
physically; hard to compete with that size. That said, Yeboah
played very well, and will be our team leader and go to guy this
year. Hard for me to fathom that Boals is going to give
Sturdivant the green light to hoist 10 3's every game. That's
not his game, and I really thought he was the worst guy on the
floor for us tonight. Scratching my head as to how he was given
that latitude to shoot like that. Overall, I thought we were
really outplayed (no surprise), and the final score wasn't
indicative of the lop-sidedness of the game. Nonetheless, only
a 15-point loss to the Terps is something to build on. Great
move by Ochefu at end of game - he needs to see minutes - like
his size and agility. BTW, The new Coliseum is beautiful, IMO.

We definitely looked small and lost on that floor against the
Terps, but that was to be expected. They are a young team and
still trying to find their comfort zone... This year is going to
be an adjustment year and we could quite possibly go 500 in the
conference. With no bigs on the floor, rebounding will be
       difficult...
Why was Ochefu sitting on the bench for most of the game?? IN
the 2 minutes he played he looked impressive..
Petrus is still Petrus.. He should be the bench guy, not
       Ochefu..
I think Boals is going to use the OOC games to see who fits in
       best come conference time..

I was impressed with Mackenzie and though Almonocey brought
energy to the floor and sparked SB's mini-run in the second
half. Yeboah will be a handful in the AE and I though Sekunda
looked assertive in the second half. Not enough data on any of
the other freshmen but Ochefu did enough in the last two minutes
to make me want to see more of him. Overall I was impressed with
the effort. Looking forward to the season.

Ochefu had slight groin injury. Wasn’t able to practice for a
       few days before the game.0

That explains. He looked composed and motivated in the preseason
interviews. Can’t wait to see him dominate :)

Thanks for the intel- Anthony looks the part, can't wait to see
       him on the court.
These freshmen have me real excited but man, they are getting a
trial by fire these first few games. I hope Anthony can get
serious minutes against UConn. He's going to be our most legit
       low-post presence.
