Onto the game, was pretty darn impressed. Carbone has proven me
wrong- he's making a lot of throws he simply could not make in
previous years. The TD pass to Bolden was absolutely perfect and
the TD pass to Jackson at the end of the 1st half was placed
perfectly. Liotine and Bedell are a great 1-2 punch. The
offensive line is getting better by the game. The D-line got an
OK amount of pressure but they're missing Valentin.
Towson is a solid team and this was a good win.

Great to win the game close like that. Carbone going 22-30 with
2TDs!??!? That kind of play will make us a competitor. He's
       really coming into his own.

I was at the game- obviously the attendance could be better but
6PM games on a Saturday are a tough sell for a lot of people.
Like hammer said, because of Rosh Hashanah a lot of games were
scheduled for Saturday night. The crowd that was there was a
good group. I gotta say the new seats in the north end zone make
the stadium look less full because the folks that sit there
would otherwise be filling the seats elsewhere. Anyway, as
somebody who's been going to games for a while I think the
attendance is what it is for the time being. The growth in the
program is going to come from the community, not the students.
       CAA attendance:
JMU 25,330 (they're as ready for FBS as any)
       New Hampshire 22,135 (Homecoming)
       Richmond 8,207
       Albany 6,866
       Stony Brook 6,672
       [/quote]
I find it unreal how UNH can get that many people. I'd love to
see pictures of the crowd. JMU will be the next FCS program out
the door to FBS. They can be competitive TODAY in CUSA or the
       Sun Belt.

Forgot to mention the most important think, Marc Nolan is an
absolute beast. He is the best punter I've seen at Stony Brook.
If he keeps it up, he may have a chance at the next level. He
really placed some punts perfectly last night.

Local College football is not a big draw on the island; you have
more population then the whole maryland, DC & NVA market & the
school cannot draw 10,000 from the area on a Saturday.
       Fans drive 2hrs dwon here to go watch a game in the area;
football & tailgating is bigger the more you head south.
Towson does not have a great team & we had difficulty with
handling the play action from Towson; it's something we need to
work on. I also wish we would use the TE & Slot more in our
game planning; we have a night mare match up & we are not using
       it effectively.
It will force the DB to back of the line & open up the game even
       more.

echo the carbone comments. much better arm, much more
confidence. and how good is our running game?
towson runs that really nice reverse, good fake handoff from the
       QB.
in other news. we made the top ten on ESPN, but it was the
one-handed towson catch over the middle, not our play.

Congrats to #10! To go through what he went through last year in
terms of production and be able to come back and perform at a
higher level this year with confidence and enthusiasm is really
impressive. I am very happy for him. I hope it continues.

I dunno, he was in workout pants and moving around pretty well.
I hope its something short term- he's a beast on our D-line when
       healthy.

My last statement about attendance, at least in this thread.
In 2014 we had our best average attendance despite having a
so-so team that year. But the tailgating was great, parking was
free, and students were given some freedom to party up and enjoy
the fall days in LaValle's parking lot. I had a group of alumni
7-8 tailgating together.... Even frats and DJs were showing up.
The year after that the school makes a bunch of reforms and
kills the tailgating experience and prices out a bunch of season
ticket holders out of the main lot. WHY? For a few thousand
bucks? Is that worth it? Killing the season-ticket
holder/student experience for a few thousand bucks?
Students will not come to a College Football game if they don't
find it fun (unless they are fan of the sport). That's the
bottom line. We cannot blame them for it. If you are not a fan,
why else would you show up? Make it fun darn it!
The University and the athletic department have to strike a
       balance between a family-oriented game-day experience and a
college-student oriented experience. Not everyone goes home on
weekends. Every time I walk through the Brook prior to gametime
I see students everywhere. I see kids in the dining hall,
library, out enjoying the weather... Probably about half of the
kids that live on campus stay on weekend. This perception that
everyone goes home is FALSE. It's simply NOT fun to be at the
game. You cannot even have a sip of beer in the parking lot
before the cops make a fuzz about it.
The only reason I drive from the Bronx all the way to SBU it's
because I'm a fan of the sport and of the Seawolves. But you
cant expect the average causal fan to have the level of
commitment we have here. It's not going to happen. We need
       pro-attendance reforms on campus, urgently!
