Just go back to the Bx from the game. great day for football but
weak attendance as others pointed out. But we got a W. 2-0 in
the CAA, 3-1 overall. Not the most exciting game. But I'll take
       it
Albany with a big win over Nova tonight

I think it's time to come to terms with attendance. We may never
get the attendance we desire... This Long Island market sucks
It is what it is. Go Seawolves

Here are the home opener attendances for some of the local
       schools:
       Fordham - 3,029
       Columbia - 4,101
       Monmouth - 3,898
       St. John's- 0*
       Hofstra - 0*
I think Stony Brook football (AD, athletics staff, coaches,
and players) do a horrible job in promoting their team
This athletic department tends to rest on their laurels and just
thinks the students and community will come rushing to their
event. The football group could learn a lot on how the Wlax
coach promotes his team through social media.

Some schools had football games at 6:00 last night. That really
hurts the fan base. Thats why I didnt make the game and about a
dozen other SB ticket holders, I personally know couldnt make
       the game neither..

       Hey Hammer,
I'm looking to purchase 14-20 tickets for the Delaware
       game - any advice?

The Athletic Dept still doesn't promote their sports very well
. Yesterday was Community Awareness at Stony Brook . It was
the first one ever held at school that's been there 60 years. I
understand it was a good turn out and will be held next year.
But they sent no to flyers to schools and minimum notices to
community organizations . So the problem is school wide not
just athletics . Very frustrating .

its the same discussion over and over again. 6k fans at an
average SB event means 500-1000 students, the band, and then 5k
       from the local community.
which begs the question. a student base with 25,000 students
can only get one out of every twenty five to show up?
       yes.
       why?
because football is on a weekend. and the other 24 arent going
to drive to campus from queens to watch football.

Here is one issue in August every year Nassau/Suffolk/CHSFL hold
their kickoff meeting all the HS Coaches gather that would be
the perfect night for someone from the ticket office to attend
and offer packages for HS/JHS to bring their players at an
affordable price. I think if schools are given that option and
they don't have game why not go and they could get introduced to
       SBU Football

I was at the game- obviously the attendance could be better but
6PM games on a Saturday are a tough sell for a lot of people.
Like hammer said, because of Rosh Hashanah a lot of games were
scheduled for Saturday night. The crowd that was there was a
good group. I gotta say the new seats in the north end zone make
the stadium look less full because the folks that sit there
would otherwise be filling the seats elsewhere. Anyway, as
somebody who's been going to games for a while I think the
attendance is what it is for the time being. The growth in the
program is going to come from the community, not the students.
       CAA attendance:
JMU 25,330 (they're as ready for FBS as any)
       New Hampshire 22,135 (Homecoming)
       Richmond 8,207
       Albany 6,866
       Stony Brook 6,672
